Re: UHD drives
The most available drive for us Ozzie's is the LG BH16NS55 , which works perfectly for UHD (on firmware 1.02) and is generally cheaper than the ASUS and is available at most PC Parts shops. I'm in VIC and have 2 of these drives. 1 is on LG firmware 1.02 and the other I cross-flashed to ASUS 3.02. G...

Re: UHD drives
@jonghotti,
I sent you a pm about 3 days ago and haven't heard back from you. I would like a price for an official WH16NS60 (with stock firmware 1.00) sent to Victoria, Australia.
Can you please advise.
Thanks

Re: UHD drives
Okay, so it seems quite complicated when it comes to finding the right drive that always works? I'm in Australia and the only drive from the OP list locally is the ASUS BW-16D1HT-PRO. Who has had good luck with this drive? If it does have the incorrect firmware, are there easy ways to get it to the...

Re: Asus BW-16D
Yep, as above, if the drive is manufactured before "late 2015+" then it is no good for UHD. Also if the unit has fw 1.xx on it, which most of the early 2015 models do, then it is too old. I think it's around October 2015 that the newer "UHD Friendly" model began, which had fw 3.0...

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS55
Hi everyone. I used the Windows Method up until step 7 for dumping the 1.03 firmware that came with my ASUS BW-16D1HT drive. Would someone please create the downgraded firmware for the drive. I have attached the 1.03 firmware dump of my drive. Thank you, classek, I assume you mean your's came with ...

Re: UHD drives
Oh guys. Dont do this to me. The first item in this post clearly provided a list of compatible drives. I picked up two WH14NS40 1.00 drives. I insert my first 4k disk to no avail. I do a little reading and there some issue with a manufacureres date on the drive. That would have been ehlpful informa...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
@thelittleworm, Thanks for the info! This sounds promising.. Couldn't you then: 1. Use HDStreamExtractor to extract the ATMOS audio (and subtitles,chapteres if required) from the iso 2. Place your newly created DV mp4 into MKVtoolnix along with the ATMOS audio, subs, chapters etc resulting in an MKV...

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS55
Thanks again MartyMcNuts! My motherboard died last Thursday... talk about bad timing. >.< New parts installed yesterday but that no longer had an IDE option. Luckily my old server does have an IDE mode! Used the windows 7 usb again and this time erase/write flash with DOSFLASH. First time it failed...

Re: UHD drives
@markm75,
I'm pretty sure that drive won't work. I have one of them sitting on a shelf. I think it is from around 2010-2011. For UHD Friendliness, you need a drive from late 2015+

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS55
Since there are experts here who have done this many times, I would appreciate if someone could modify in the appropriate manner the attached DOSFlash firmware dump from my LG WH16NS40 drive. My sincere thanks in advance Hi Hoopster, Here you go! I have used your firmware dump to create a couple of...
