Re: libavcodec 53 no longer available on Ubuntu 14.04
You will definitely need to recompile makemkv against all your new librairies if you upgrade your distribution. Fortunatley, that should be all that's required.

Re: mmdtsdec binary on 64-bit systems
Yeah, I think you're SOL on this one. Like MI3Guy said, the underlying dll is 32-bit only, and that's not likely to change any time soon. You might try rebuilding the kernel with the relevant option enabled, but then you're also going to need a 32-bit libc (/lib/ld-linux.so.2), which it sounds like ...

Re: mmdtsdec writing to standard output
Interesting trick. I hadn't thought of that. mikeadmin mentioned that mmdtsdec can talk to a tcp port (that's in fact how the on the fly flac conversion works from makemkv), but he hasn't said how it's used and it's defintiely not documented.

Re: makemkvcon and utf 8 character from bash script
What exactly is this shell script you are referring to? And where exactly are you viewing the mojibaked output? Do you see the same problem, just running makemkvcon from the command line? You might also try different terminal emulators. In my limited encounters with non-ascii encoding, uxterm or urx...

Re: Grid Artefacts on mkv converting from Bluray
Are you sure that makemkv is to blame here? If you're able to play the video stream, and it's assembled in the right order, it's unlikely makemkv is at fault since it just losslessly copies the video stream into the mkv container. It sounds more like a graphics driver/video output/player bug. I seem...

Re: Flac discrepancies
I remember mikeadmin mentioning that mmdtsdec could talk to a tcp port instead of writing a broken .wav file. Does anyone know how that works (i.e., how to set up the port and how the data is encoded), or at least where to look in makemiv-oss to see where this is going on. I did a quick grep for &qu...

Star Trek The Next Generation Season 5
With makemkv 1.8.10 t06 gives a "Copy complete 0 titles save, 1 failed" dialog box. Here are: * makemkv log * test dump * testdump log * full backup with all but the relevant m2ts removed With makemkv 1.8.9, this particular track gives no problem, however t00 on the same disc exhibits a si...

Re: LPCM BR discs - no sound?
You might not want to make FLAC your default profile if you don't want to mess around with dtsdecoderdll.dll for most blurays. You probably just want to use the FLAC profile for a the LPCM blurays in question. In the same window where you select the titles, there should be a dropdown menu to select ...

Re: Audio problems...
You should only *need* the dtsdecoderdll.dll file if you are encoding to FLAC. If you use the unmodified "default" profile, it will just copy the audio as is. On blu ray this means DTS-HD-MA, TRUEHD or LPCM, which shouldn't be a problem for any player, although they may not decode lossless...

Re: LPCM BR discs - no sound?
I've had mixed results trying to edit the mkv headers. The problem is that since there is no channel mapping information, the player will often get it wrong. This is why "A_PCM/INT/LIT" isn't used by default in makemkv in the first place. I've found that the best way to resolve this proble...

Re: makemkvcon
It's giving you a usage message because you didn't give it any commands. You're probably looking for the "mkv" command. something like makemkvcon --profile=/usr/share/MakeMKV/profile.mmcp.xml mkv disc:0 all /path/to/destination See http://www.makemkv.com/developers/usage.txt . Sudo is not ...

The relevant line in ~/.MakeMKV/settings.conf is
app_dtshddec = "path/to/dtsdecoderdll.dll"
app_dtshddec = "path/to/dtsdecoderdll.dll"

Re: Where are preferences set (makemkvcon) when you have no
I have only ever seen that message when I tried to decode dtshd to FLAC. Are you certain that you are using the profile you think you are and that profile is NOT requesting flac encoding? There is an undocumented makemkvcon flag "--profile" which may be of use here. On Linux, all settings ...

Re: Planes
That messages is showing up because your are using the "FLAC" profile which requires the dll to decode the lossless DTSHD audio tracks into the Free Lossless Audio Compression codec. You should be able to select the "Default" profile which just copies all the tracks as is without...

Re: So, what does it take for BD+ newer titles ?
Oh, and there is nothing special required of the BD drive for BD+. It's the decryption software that matters. Similarly, BD drives themselves don't have regions like DVD - software must enforce regions, which makemkv chooses not to do.
