Re: Average failed rip rate for Blu-ray disk

I have two drives, a Pioneer BDR-205 and Asus BW-16D1HT and can't remember the last time a disc that wasn't clearly physically damaged failed to rip. Before LibreDrive, the Pioneer - with its 2011 firmware - used to rip DVDs and Blu-Rays significantly faster than the Asus. These days the Pioneer is ...

Re: Libredrive version v6

Is it possible that the increased speeds could potentially destroy discs? I had a Bluray disc just literally explode in my LG drive into a million pieces. It had trouble reading the disc and was constantly adjusting the spin speed and then eventually heard a loud POP inside the drive like a gun aft...

I only rip my own discs. I wouldn't be worried.

Re: Where do the AACS keys come from?!?!

It's possible to watch Blu-Rays with VLC thanks to some help from MakeMKV, without ripping them. Install VLC and MakeMKV. From the MakeMKV installation directory, copy libmmbd.dll to the VLC installation directory. Rename it to libaacs.dll. Copy it again and rename the second copy to libbdplus.dll O...

Re: Random "No disc inserted" error

I get the occasioinal 'no disc inserted' error. Usually after I've ripped one disc, put in another and the second disc isn't recognised. Quite MakeMKV, restart and second disc is recognised. I don't want to say every single time but... most times. I'm sure it's something to do with the second disc b...

Re: Ripping speed

I don't know why ccextractor would make a difference. I don't have it installed and about 45 minutes for a UHD rip is about right. I haven't had a dual CPU board since the Pentium 2 and 3. Have you tried setting core affinity so the makemkv process only uses one physical cpu? They said DUAL Xeon no...

Re: Keep Orginal MKVs or Recompressed?

I run all but my UHD rips through Handbrake with X264 or, increasingly, X265.

For a long time now Handbrake has had the option of passing through HD and Atmos audio untouched so the audio is bit for bit the same as is on the disc.

Re: Dredd Ghost in the Shell stutter

I don't have the same set up as you, or Dredd UHD, but my Ghost in the Shell rip to MKV works fine from a basic CFS network share (no Plex, no transcoding) through VLC, Kodi on a Nvidia Shield and OSMC on a Vero 4K.

My rip is just that, not transcoded to X265 and not a backup.

Re: Bottleneck when ripping from ISOs on disk?

Back in 2011, with a Q9650 CPU I ripped an ISO from one mechanical hardrive to another mechanical harddrive at a speed of 80MB/s, which was probably approaching the maximum sustained transfer rate of those drives (the weren't new). A 40GB ISO would have taken 8 minutes. Faster drives with that CPU w...

Does that only happen with VLC, or does MPC also show a difference?

Almost looks like a difference between 0-256 and 16-235 RGB ranges.

Re: Episode order on disc

Many TV series have episodes on disc out of chronoligical order. To me knowledge, the best you can do is hope for a production code at the end of the credits for each episode and check this against the listing at thetvdb.com This is certainly the case for The Vampire Diaries. Other series have no pr...

Assume there are several releases with different keys.

I'm unable to rip my UK Batman Begins, despite there being several keys for it already.

I've never had a read problem with a new disc but plenty with my older DVDs and Blu-Rays; I always clean them with furniture polish and a microfibre cloth!

Re: UHD Ripping failing all of a sudden...

All your logs have a hashcheck error before the rip fails.

/errors/hashcheck/

"Getting this error usually means a failing drives."

Got another drive you can check with?
