But, there are some Blu-ray players that do not check files. Unfortunately, Samsung is a manufacturer that does validate Cinavia, no matter t...

Try making an ISO backup of the disc with ImgBurn. If you get a disc protected message from ImgBurn, ignore it.

You can't be serious. I've not run into that issue.

Re: MKV to de-interlaced m4v

Any suggestions on the best way to de-interlace the files on the way to the final m4v file? Since you do not provide this info, I'm assuming you are talking about 480i DVDs and not 576i DVDs. You do not want to de-interlace, but you do want to IVTC, i.e., remove the 2:3 pulldown in the 29.97 fps vi...

No Cinavia issues at all (was listening to the Dolby TrueHD 7.1 stream).
You never will, since Paramount/CBS Studios does not use Cinavia. Only releases from Sony, Universal/Lionsgate have Cinavia.

Re: makemkvcon: setting readRetryCount?

IIUI correctly, it means the number of times it will retry reading a bad sector on the media. Once it as gone thru 25 (your setting) attempts, it will bail.

Split the tgz file into smaller pieces. Post the smaller files. Mike will then be able to join them back together before opening the tarball.

Re: Purchased Insurgent Redbox Blu-Ray

The reason I ask about the chapter times is because the segment and playlist numbers are different on Canadian disc than US disc. So unless someone can provide the Canadian-specific info, that was the only way I could think to get started to find the right one - to look at the chapter times, as the...

Re: Purchased Insurgent Redbox Blu-Ray

Obfuscation is not done on chapter boundaries. Doing obfuscation will not affect the bitrate as there are not extra segments because of it. At most there might be a 2 minute piece that informs you that this is a ripped copy. If it is a 50GB disc, you should not be having crappy bitrates.
