Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
Apologies if this has been asked a million times before, but these profile things (which I know nothing about)... It seems there are DV profile 5 and DV profile 8 and maybe lots of others. Does 1.15.3 always make one particular profile or does it vary depending on I don't know what ? Thanks. It is ...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
Hi, when I try to rip a movie, I'm getting 2 almost identical options. 1 with chapters etc and 1 without. I thought that this was the dual layers and that when I clicked MakeMKV the 2 options would have been converted to 1. This was not the case and I was left with 2 separate MKV movies. Was I supp...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Guide Updated 2020
My LG NS60 arrived. It is a 5/2020 manufacture date with 1.02 ROM and SVC CODE NS60. Question 1: Based on the mfr date, rom, and svc code, is there anything I should worry about before attempting flash? Question 2: This guide recommends I flash to 1.02 MK but the MK pack has the 1.03 MK firmware in...

Re: All 4K Releases Spreadsheet
Also a couple versions of films I noticed are missing are the StudioCanal releases of Leon the Professional and Cliffhanger that include DV. You have to remember that not all versions of a particular film do include DV. Terminator: Dark Fate is an example where the US release features DV but the Au...

If you are thinking of transcoding 4K, have a read of this first: https://forums.plex.tv/t/info-plex-4k-t ... -4k/378203.

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
I see a lot of you talking about Plex. However, i don't think it will be of any use to me because i don't own any nas/synology and, if i am correct, plex needs an external transcoder. Plex doesn't need an 'external transcoder' at all. If transcoding is required, Plex will do it on whatever hardware...

Re: Noob questions on flashing BH16NS55 (1.04), sdftool
So I have made some long-term experiences with ripping a few UHD discs, quite a few BDs and many many Audio CDs. And I must say that the WH16NS60 1.02-MK firmware beats the crap out of that drive. It is fantastic! Not just with MakeMKV, but also with other software such as EAC (for ripping Audio CD...

This. Nevermind the time and effort to reencode. I have better things to do with my life.DaMacFunkin wrote: ↑Thu Nov 19, 2020 7:15 amPersonally I will buy more storage, Dolby Vision should be in all its splendour.

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
Then you have somehow tell MakeMKV to keep re-encoded base, but extract DV EL+RPU from another track. This is easy to do technically, the question is about UI. The easiest way probably would be the track ordering as well: if the second track contains Base+EL+RPU, then discard base, extract EL+RPU a...

Re: What does MakeMKV do with HDR10+ metadata?
OK, thank you.
If I had a TV which supported HDR10+ (I don't so this is all hypothetical), it would display with the HDR10+ metadata without any additional processing beyond the initial rip by MakeMKV?

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
This however does not solve the re-encoding problem - if you have a proper DV MKV file with a single video track, you can open and re-encode it as base layer in handbrake, but you would end up with original MKV and new re-encoded base video track. If you combine them to a single MKV, you will get 2...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
Hi Mike, The Hunt For Red October reports as FEL when it is reported on blu-ray.com database as MEL. The ripped makemkv doesn’t play on Zidoo at all, it just hangs. Can you fix this or is there a way to rip it correctly as Profile 7 MEL? Cheers. The blu-ray.com database could be wrong. It wouldn't ...
