Re: Story Of Film
Samsung does cover a lot of codecs, but there are still some it hands off to attached devices. I just did a search on Samsung codec support in general, and found example models that do not list support for AC3, which is REALLY weird, because that's the standard codec for DVD. But most seem to suppor...

Re: Rambo 2008 not being correctly processed
Is this the edition that says "Lionsgate" on the packaging? You may have selected the wrong title, due to play list obfuscation. I decided to not bother with it because of the fake play list crap Lionsgate does with their titles.

Re: Story Of Film
To use profiles, you need to go to Preferences->General and check "Expert mode", then a lot of options open up... Including (on the Preferences->Advanced tab) selecting your default profile, and the ability to exit a lot more information about what is being ripped. If you do not have a Pre...

Re: Unable to access mapped drive
My normal workflow is suitable for what I normally do - add anime series to the NAS, where there are 6 to several hundred episodes that all have the same characteristics. It isn't as workable for dealing with, say, 20 movies that have different audio and other characteristics between each. And it ru...

Re: Evaluation period issue
When you re-entered the beta key, did it accept it? Or did you get the evaluation period expired before you entered the key?
Clicking Help->Register and entering the beta key is SUPPOSED to reset the 30-day Bluray capability timer.

The debug codes are going to have to be deciphered by the author (Mike), so I'd suggest send an email to support@makemkv.com with a link to this topic.

Given that nothing has changed on the HD DVD front since it was discontinued, AACS should not be the issue. But someone who knows more about it than me would have to comment further.

Re: Unable to access mapped drive
If there is something that can be tweaked, I'd like to know about it. In my case, it is the specific TASK that loses access. These are CMD windows, running under Windows. If the glitch happens when the particular window is writing, there is a 20% or so chance that the window is "dead" as f...

Re: Error in DVD drive, BR drive works fine with same DVD
You have a bit of the opposite issue that I've seen - when the BD drives can't read a DVD, it's time to get a DVD drive out. :) Were there errors or debug messages prior to the SCSI error? Is it just this one DVD, or more than one? (the standard advise to clean the disk still applies, even when the ...

Re: Question about Cinavia
With MakeMKV, there's nothing you can do, because it is going to faithfully copy the audio from the source to the MKV file. It's the audio itself that is the problem.
I see you've found the main Cinavia topic here, with pretty much everything there is to know, from the MakeMKV side.

That I can't tell you. I have never had a BD rip show up at less than 1920x1080, but I also do not rely upon Windows to tell me what the resolution is. I just tried asking for the properties of a recent BD rip, and Windows simply says it's a 32.4GB "VLC media file (mkv)", with none of the ...

Re: Unable to access mapped drive
This is a Windows issue, and I've been dealing with it in a different context (work network) for 2 years. Windows does NOT like it when a network resource times out on a write. Timeouts happen - They shouldn't, but they do. Windows responds by taking the resource "off line", even if it isn...

Re: Frame Sizes
True, upscaling can look horrid.
But the key point is that files generated by MakeMKV are going to be copies of what is on the disk; it does not change the encoding or the resolution.
