Re: Optical BD drive that doesn't cap at 2.2x

Anyone please? From your post you’re using a USB powered Slim Samsung BD drive. I’m not a technician but I think USB BD drives has heavy CPU usage and it also consumes your computer’s resources. In other words, the external slim drive does not have its own power source and it’s using the power of y...

Re: The new version does not see my drive

I just upgraded to MakeMKV v1.150 Darwin(x64-release) and it says that "the program can't find any usable optical drives" yet when I put the disk in, the movie starts playing on my Mac. The drive is a Super Slim Drive-USB3.0 Model No GEPC072AS Note Handbrake can also read the disc so it i...

Re: Keep drive offline in USB ext case, on only for rip?

I'm wondering about the choice between putting the ripping drive in a PC or a ext USB case. I picked up a couple Dell 7010 SFF (small form factor) mini towers and planned to set one up as a dedicated ripping station, but mostly CDs and normal DVDs, only rarely UHQ content. General plan is to use th...

Re: Is MakeMKV Still Being Developed?

I was going to purchase a license to support the Dev, but I'm curious, is this software is still being developed? There hasn't been an update in a long while. Would be a shame if it wasn't. I’ve been using MakeMKV in Mac OS X the past 7 years and I can say it’s well developed. Thru the years this a...

Re: MacOS No Longer Recognize Blu-Ray Discs in Two Separate Drives

[Update] I have 2 Asus BW-16DHt, the firmware of my second Asus is 3.01 and also works fine under High Sierra. I don't think the firmware of the drive is related to the reading BDs problem in my opinion. Try testing various blu-rays, wipe them with fibre cloth to test further. Not a tech guy but if...

@MrMuffinJr. If the Asus drive was built before 2015 and flashing it may brick the drive.

Re: MacOS No Longer Recognize Blu-Ray Discs in Two Separate Drives

Hi BlueMac77, Out of curiosity, what is the SMC version on your Mac? It should be on the Hardware Overview pane of the System Report app. I have zapped my PRAM but not with the drive removed. I will try that and report back. I can also try running the disc repair from the recovery drive, but this s...

Re: MacOS No Longer Recognize Blu-Ray Discs in Two Separate Drives

So there is something "below" makemkv at play here. Should I start thinking about the drive itself? I suppose that it's possible the ASUS is having some sort of firmware or hardware related issues? It made some grinding noises the night before I noticed it wasn't working. This happens fro...

I'd like to skip the evaluation and just purchase now. How do I do so?
MakeMKV is an excellent app, worth the investment. Been using this app for almost 6 years and it’s fun to use

A friend has a BDR-212DBK for sale just for $17 bucks, they used a couple of times and never used anymore. Works for UHD discs? now with Libre... As far as I know Pioneer BD Drives like the BDR-212UBK does not support 4K UHD ripping and may not yet be LibreDrive enabled. This was mentioned by the d...

Re: Audio Differences

Hi guys, With 4k discs playing through an xbox that is connected directly to a soundbar there is a higher quality audio. When I rip the film to a drive and play it through the TV (TV connected to soundbar), the audio seems worse and there seems to be fewer tracks. Is there anyway I can verify what ...
