Re: Game of Thrones UHD Complete Series 1-8 - No Decrypt Key yet
I found that flashing had no impact at all. What "usually" worked for me was inserting a different media type and allowing the drive to scan it. That also "usually" works for me, but right now today I just had another "incident" and this time the drive wouldn't even re...

Re: Game of Thrones UHD Complete Series 1-8 - No Decrypt Key yet
Did you try to re-flash the drive's firmware and also fully shutdown and restart your PC (full cold power-down reboot, not just Windows' "restart")?

Re: Are AV synchronization issues a problem?
I can disprove your claim because I had the same issue when ripping the movie "Onward" (UHD) and not selecting any subtitles whatsoever. The issue still occurred and one of those sync issues caused an audible pop. Of course it could be different for each movie, but at least in my case with...

Re: Warning message about DVDFab
I just bought a new set (still in plastic) dvd set of Simon & Simon I think by Shout Factory and it gives this waring also. Are you 100% certain it's legit? I bought a DVD set from a show released by Shout Factory, brand new in shrink wrap, saw this warning, didn't think much of it until I noti...

Re: Game of Thrones UHD Complete Series 1-8 - No Decrypt Key yet
FWIW, my ASUS drive is a zombie too. It stops reading all UHD discs sometimes, but I can always bring it back to life either by re-flashing the firmware (even if I flash the same version it's already on) or by putting a non-UHD disc into it, taking it out and then inserting the UHD disc, or by compl...

Re: Back to the Future won't read on my ASUS drive
Does anyone here who reported issues with any of those 3 discs also own an "official" UHD drive? If so, have you tested it there? I'm just curious if this is a general issue with all UHD-friendly drives or a general issue with some lower quality discs... and yes, I understand that a regula...

Re: Ripping Dolby Atmos into MKV
I can also confirm a pop on Disney's 4K release of the "Onward" movie. It has 7 sync issues: AV sync issue in stream 1 at 0:03:18.240 with duration of 1.666ms : 2 frame(s) dropped to reduce audio skew to -0.019ms AV sync issue in stream 1 at 0:08:14.327 with duration of 1.666ms : 2 frame(s...

Re: Is it possible to force MakeMKV to ignore AV sync issues on a case-by-case basis?
It looks like you're getting this while ripping the blu-ray? What kind of audio track is stream 1 (e.g. TrueHD or DTS-MA)? Yes, it's a 4K disc, I ripped multiple tracks - TrueHD + the DD core of the TrueHD track + the DTS-MA track. The pop happens only on the TrueHD track. I'll add this info to the...

Is it possible to force MakeMKV to ignore AV sync issues on a case-by-case basis?
I was ripping the "Onwards" movie and got the following sync issues in the log: AV sync issue in stream 1 at 0:03:18.240 with duration of 1.666ms : 2 frame(s) dropped to reduce audio skew to -0.019ms AV sync issue in stream 1 at 0:08:14.327 with duration of 1.666ms : 2 frame(s) dropped to ...

Re: 2001: A Space Odyssey
Has anyone had any issues ripping the 4K UHD version of 2001: A Space Odyssey? Oh yes. It was a bit of a pain for me too. I've put it in, wanted to rip it and the drive said: "I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that" ;) But seriously, yes, my drive didn't want to mount the disc at firs...

Re: MakeMKV files vs original VIDEO_TS/.IFO for archival/future proofing purposes?
I’m trying to reduce the physical media I own and essentially want to have an uncompressed and digitised ‘master’ archival version of these DVDs that I can confidently use indefinitely into the future to convert to any format as technologies and formats evolve. Based on this, you should definitely ...

Re: Is storing on Blu-Ray discs generally the best way to archive a collection?
I was told this would be the best place to ask this question I'm afraid most people here are all about the opposite - we don't archive data on Blu-ray discs, we rip the discs to archive the data on HDDs ;) As you've said, the M-Disc format (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-DISC) promises archival-gr...

I can answer the 4th question - I just checked and there's no such issue in my copy. I have the UK release: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00 ... UTF8&psc=1
