Re: MakeMKV 1.7.9 Subtitles in wrong character set on WDTV
Problem is to find out if it's the player or MakeMKV. I'd really like to know if the wrong subtitle color in Avatar is messed up by MakeMKV or not.

Re: MakeMKV 1.7.9 Subtitles in wrong character set on WDTV
would it matter if I could rip with Fab HD Decrypter as far as getting these PGS subtitles readable using 1.05.04 based firmware? Nope, cause the problem lies with the firmware and not the ripping process and I'm pretty sure I can imagine WD's answer: update to 1.06.15! Forced subs were displayed b...

Re: MakeMKV 1.7.9 Subtitles in wrong character set on WDTV
D'uh, you should have posted this screenshot first cause now I've realized what you meant by "gibberish". PGS subs looked like this on the original WDTV Live before they fixed it in firmware 1.06.15. I haven't followed WDLXTV-Live but since it is based on the official 1.05.04 firmware, you...

Re: MakeMKV 1.7.9 Subtitles in wrong character set on WDTV
These hardware playback devices have all sorts of issues with PGS subtitles (wrong colors, incorrect timing, dropped packets, etc.). None of which I've ever encountered on either WDTV Live nor Live Streaming. Whether the issue is with MakeMKV or the WDTV may be splitting hairs, and I probably shoul...

Have you tried a non-breaking space as a workaround?

Re: MakeMKV 1.7.9 Subtitles in wrong character set on WDTV
How about uploading a 3 min sample clip to a filehoster? You should split the file with TSMuxerGUI rather than MKVToolnix so the latter can be ruled out as cause for any possible change to the sub. Once we have the sample clip, we can extract the subs before and after using MakeMKV on them.

Re: If you had to choose
Of course, however you have to extract them which means the whole file has to be processed. When you watch the BD prior to ripping the forced sub is usually set automatically so all you have to do is check PowerDVD what track has been selected and it's most likely the forced sub. YMMV.

Re: MakeMKV 1.7.9 Subtitles in wrong character set on WDTV
I agree, it's hard to believe. You could post Mediainfo output here of either the m2ts or the mkv to see what format the subs are.

Re: Problem with subtitles
Like BDSUP2SUB. It opens VobSubs (idx/sub) you can extract from your DVD with VSRip and export only those items flagged as forced.

Re: Profile parsing error: multiple default profiles found
Right, it looks like this: default.mmcp.xml <name lang="mogz">:5086</name> flac.mmcp.xml <name lang="eng">FLAC</name> wdtv.mmcp.xml <name lang="eng">WDTV</name> I just don't get why MakeMKV is complaining since it's installing/naming these files itself when doing a new ...

Profile parsing error: multiple default profiles found
Profile parsing error: multiple default profiles found, rename your custom profile is what I get when I start makeMKV 1.7.8/7.9. MakeMKV dir contains default.mmcp.xml flac.mmcp.xml wdtv.mmcp.xml the last of which is what I've selected under Advanced. c:\Users\Chetwood\.MakeMKV dir is empty. MakeMKV ...

Re: Problems playing back MKV files on Samsung BD-D6500 play
Of course. It can't be due to the fact that Samsung's players suck in general, especially those in TVs that can't play internal (PGS) subs.ottawaxblade wrote:I've contacted Samsung and they told me that it comes down to how I created the MKV and that there may be unsupported codecs causing the problem.
