Re: Chernobyl 4K UHD

I only play on my PC or shield so I just save the 4k files on my NAS and keep the original discs locked away in a drawer.

Re: Merging multi disc Dolby Vision movies

Can you use the latest nightly build of tsmuxer to join the relevent .m2ts files from both discs and produce a Blu-ray folder as the output to play on the Oppo?

Re: Lord of the Rings + The Hobbit 4K (Finally!)

I am trying to create .ts backups of these while maintaining Dolby Vision and TrueHD/Atmos. Using the steps in https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=21937&start=1305 I am not able to maintain TrueHD/Atmos. The audio track defaults to AC3 and does not playback in lossless Atmos....

Re: Lord of the Rings + The Hobbit 4K (Finally!)

FOTREXTDISC1.jpg Success!! I can't explain why it worked, but it worked. What I can tell you... This is FotR Extended Disc 1 where I could previously only get about 45% ripped with the naked disc. It's covered with 3/4 inch wide black duct tape. It looks terrible because it was an incremental proce...

Re: Lord of the Rings + The Hobbit 4K (Finally!)

If you want a single MKV for each extended movie with a flawless scene transition between discs, follow this guide. Be prepared to have a lot of scratch disk for this, preferably on NVMe SSD :) Rip each extended disk to its own MKV, for example, LOTR1a.mkv and LOTR1b.mkv Drag Disc 1 into MkvToolnix...

Re: Chernobyl 4K UHD

Yes, your right. To make it worse the current UK version of Chernobyl is terrible quality. I was about to import the US BD when I noticed the UHD was on the way so waited. Really hope sky have nothing to do with the EU UHD from Amazon.fr! The 4K version is a little sharper but I wouldn’t say the di...

Re: TIMEOUT ON LOGICAL UNIT

I get this too a lot recently. You could try the steps below. 1. Eject and reinsert disc. Be quick to open the disc again with makemkv after it's inserted and quick to make your selections. no, then 2. Eject disc, completely power down the computer, boot up, open makemkv, insert disc and quickly ope...

Is each extended movie around 200Gbs merged?
With the files stored on NTFS I have:
Fellowship of the ring - 113GB
Two towers - 107GB
Return of the king - 126GB

Re: Lord of the Rings + The Hobbit 4K (Finally!)

Thanks for your post, it's full of useful info, particularly the part about Plex. I think I will leave the pause in as it seems to me that it's is merited for artistic reasons. Yeah, if you want a reminder to take a pee break, sure. But there are no 'artistic' reason for the break in the movie. Thi...

Thanks for your insight Cannikin. I might try cutting in mkvtoolnix and see what the result plays like.

Re: Lord of the Rings + The Hobbit 4K (Finally!)

I think the pause is merited for artistic reasons. But is it there in the theatrical, single disc version? If not, then it probably, ideally, shouldn't be present in the extended versions either, no? I See what you mean. I guess it's going to come down to personal preference and weather it will dam...

Re: Lord of the Rings + The Hobbit 4K (Finally!)

There's 5 seconds or so of black screen between the two parts, but I don't think this is Plex's fault: it looks like the last 3 seconds of the first disc, and the first couple seconds of the second disc are actually just a black screen. Not sure if there's any way to get rid of those...although I d...
