Re: Lincoln

It wasn't the shorter one - that's an interview/introduction with Steven Spielberg. As I rip with AnyDVD HD first as a folder rip, then rip from the folder rip with MakeMKV, I basically played all the playlists MakeMKV lists in MPC-HC. That led me to 00800.mpls as the one I need. In Lincoln's case, ...

Re: Lincoln

Just checked - there's 7.

6 have a runtime of 2:30:38 and one is 2:30:33. 6 have segment maps in the millions, 1 has a segment map in the hundreds of thousands.

Is that the one I need?

Lincoln

Hey,

Not sure if this is actually the right forum, as it's not a problem, as such.

Lincoln Region 2 Blu-ray lists half a dozen titles, seemingly the same. Which one should I choose in these scenarios?

Thanks

Re: Audio tracks

Thanks. How do I change the default so only the HD audio track is selected (and not 'sub-tracks'), and no subtitles are selected, for both Blu and DVD? Obviously if a disc only has DD 2.0 stereo that should still be selected as default. So If a Blu and has HD audio, only select the HD audio track If...

Re: makemkv from DVD files in a folder?

Just select the Files option.

It's what I'm doing at the moment - my current library is full disc folder rips and I'm converting them to MKV in exactly this way.

Audio tracks

On Blu's, why is the HD audio track de-selected by default? Surely it should be selected by default. Is there any backwards compatibility if I select just the HD audio track; does it downgrade gracefully when playing back on 2.0 stereo (laptop for example), or playing back on a 5.1 non-HD sound syst...

Really? I assumed they would re-author the file!

In your examples, do they still have the same padding? That would be really naff (and even more lazy)!

Re: Trim/cut/clip MKV files

Thanks aecad. What about subtitles? Let's say I rip a film with no subtitle tracks, then get the forced only srt files online and embed them into the 2 MKV files (also using MKVMerge). If I then merge the 2 MKV files together what will the result be? This is a sample of the forced only srt for Fury:...

Re: Trim/cut/clip MKV files

Yeah thought so.

It's probably easier to just get Blu versions of the 2 disc DVDs I have, as there'll likely be only 1 disc for a Blu.

Trim/cut/clip MKV files

Hey, I have some 2 disc films (as in the actual film is on 2 discs). I'd like to merge them in one MKV which I can do. Think LotR Extended. But some of them have really long padding/fades at the end of disc 1 and start of disc 2. I'd like to trim this padding so it's seamless. 1) Ideally I'd like to...

Re: Subtitles...

Can it be made possible for MakeMKV to extract the subtitles to separate .srt files, without having to do it afterwards with mkvextract?

Re: Subtitles...

OK, I was wrong.

Just put the disc in my PS3 and played it... don't get subtitles either unless I put subtitles on, which then has them for the whole episode.

This has got to be a wind/cock up surely? How the hell I are you supposed to understand what they're saying!

So what's the solution?

Re: Subtitles...

Thanks.

Would it have anything to do with the minimum title length? I.e. would a forced only subtitle track (that has say only 58 seconds of text) be skipped with the default minimum of 120 seconds?

Or are subtitle tracks excluded from the minimum title length?

Re: Subtitles...

MakeMKV works quite well with subtitles on both DVD and BD - 95% of what I rip is Japanese animation, and MakeMKV would be useless to me if it didn't handle subtitles. Would you mind posting a screenshot of what you've got selected when ripping one of the Japanese discs (DVD if possible). I'm clear...
