Re: Don't want to give up on makemkv, but...

Not much information to work from. There is a MakeMKV setting that lets the program contact the server and download the latest Blu-ray keys. Make sure that is enabled or manually download https://www.makeMKV.com/svq/dsall.svq and put that in your data directory (also shown in MakeMKV settings. The t...

Re: I can't Rip some recorded movies

MakeMKV is used to remove encryption from commercial discs. If you made the disc yourself, it would not be encrypted. You should be able to open the disc with any file explorer.

Re: Makemkv hangs OS

You've tried the likely CDROM drive and power supply already.

I don't know the Linux equivalent to a system image but you may want to be ready if your hard drive or SSD is failing.

Re: Knives Out - Scene Out of Order

Welcome to playlist obfuscation. MakeMKV with Java runtime will select the correct "Main Feature" more than half the time but does fail on some movies. As Grauhaar suggests, it is wise to search the Blu-ray discs section with your movie title. Several members regularly post the correct .mp...

Re: Extract/backup specific M2TS file

Making a decrypted backup (under File, I think) of the Blu-Ray will give you a folder of all the .m2ts files. Yes, VLC can play the .m2ts files. Just right click on the .m2ts file and choose VLC for "Open With."

Re: New version looks fantastic

I haven't found the dark mode yet but with just a couple ticks in settings to copy a .dll into System32 and SysWOW64, VLC can now play Blu-Ray and UHD discs. Good work!

Re: Midway

Most of the fake playlists will have the correct first and last video sections. Lionsgate likes to switch short video sections in two or three places in the middle of the picture. Usually the rental disks do use the same playlist but you need to test the entire movie to verify.

Is there a reliable software I can use to compress the MKV? I'm used to DVD's being 5-7GB a jump to 30GB is going to eat up space quick! HandBrake is free. Try various settings on just one chapter of a movie until you find a set you like. It can also "burn-in" subtitles for foreign langua...

I had no problem with Ford v Ferrari Blu-Ray. Probably a bad disc.

Re: Thumbnail instead of icon

I guess you want an icon when you look at a file list in a file manager. Usually at the bottom of the expanded blu-ray movie in MakeMKV, after the video, audio and subtitle choices, the is a check box for a jpeg file. My player, VLC, just grabs a video frame for an icon when it organizes all the vid...

Re: Am I understanding this correctly??

Ok, so I did think of one more question. Now I know that playlist obfuscation is still needed with standard blu ray. With the libredrive enabled Asus that I have for UHD discs, is it still needed for UHD discs? Yes, LibreDrive cures cancer and promotes world peace! Read the topic "What is Libr...

joeleisner, I apologize for leading you down this rabbit hole. From a search on WP50NB40 this is one drive we cannot flash. You will need to go to your task manager and kill the flasher task to stop it. Your drive has the right controller chip and firmware is available but there is no method yet to ...
