Re: The Batman 4K UHD not recognized

The main problem on some discs is their weight and the optical calibration, which is, of course, unique for the specific drive. For Batman UHD disc someone could try to put a label on the disc increasing weight and try to read it again. In my own case I have a similar problem with Spiderman - No Way...

Re: Pioneer BDR-S12UHT

I have FW 1.01 on my BDR-S12U. Weren't you afraid to lose UHD rip capabilities when updating? And may I ask how you did that? You will never lose UHD rip capabilities because the new firmware adds only few improvements while the libredrive mode is running in RAM (firmware is not overwritten). In or...

NexStar DX2 Review

Hi guys, here is my review for this amazing chassis (NexStar DX2 by VANTEC), I received today sent by @asmcom few days ago. Chassis comes protected with nylon as well as with 12 screws, a screwdriver and 4 rubber pads to avoid scratches between the chassis and other surfaces. The top part is removab...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2022

I don't know how to use those types of commands you mentioned; I just used the SDF Tool's Recovery option to try and restore the correct firmware after accidently flashing to a Slim drive. Which I did, but the problem now, as I said, is that the driver does not seem to recognize the discs. But the ...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2022

Oh no! So you mean to tell me that after I accidently flashed to a Slim drive, that burned my drive, and this process is irreversible? Because if so, I don't know what to do. I just bought this drive not too long ago, and that will be $80 gone down the drain, with no way to play/rip my discs :( Tha...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2022

It worked now! I can open and close the tray, but it doesn't seem to recognize any Blu-ray Discs I place in it. What can I do? And it will never read any bluray disc again. I've made the same mistake last year trying all firmwares (for testing purposes, of course) on my LG BH16NS55 unit and after f...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2022

@sapphire

Did you make a previous firmware dump of your own unit?

If yes, you could try the sdftool command in order to reflash the full (bootloader + main) firmware file

and then, via SDF GUI Flasher (1.33) flash the WH16NS60 1.03 MK firmware file.

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

Hello TeddyRaspin, This is unusual from what I gather from talking to technical support for Europe. The warranty is good with Pioneer so I will exchange any faulty drives in the 1st 12 months. Should have Vantec DX2 enclosure for you shortly. Hope all is good. I to, would like to know what happened...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

Today afternoon, I've tried to rip a 4K Blu-Ray with my BDR-S12UHT. I've opened, as I always do, MakeMKV and inserted film inside my unit. After detecting disc it is dead. Tray doesn't open anymore (I had to use an attach in order to eject disc), it seems like is not power connected. I've tried ever...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

Well, at last it seems I fixed my issues with BDR-S12UHT enabling S.M.A.R.T option for SATA Controller in UEFI BIOS. That's sound strange but doing this raid arrays as well as the Pioneer drive work like a charm after several reboots, power off and MakeMKV initializations. I'll do more tests in the ...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

Pioneer BDR-S12UHT (or 212UBK) can read even "stones". It is silent and able to perfectly read/write any UHD 4K Blu-Ray, expecially triple or quad layer, while LG sometimes fails. For example my TENET UHD disc (94 Gb approximately) is not always read by both LG I have (crossflashed to WH16...

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

Don't be too sure. He fixed already some incompatiblities regarding communication with 3rd party chipsets. Maybe he will, but in the meantime I've turned back to LG and, it's useless to say, they're working fine and with higher ripping speed. I've ordered a SATA to USB3 adapter in order to use also...

Unless Mike finds an obvious reason to cure your issue you will probably have to deal with it in RAID 0 mode for the Pioneer drive.
It's not an issue Mike can fix, it has nothing to do with MakeMKV according to our conclusions.

Re: LibreDrive for Pioneer drives

I'm pretty sure it is somehow the combination of RAID and the AMD X570 chipset. Personally I stay away from AMD and prefer Intel. I had once many, many years ago an AMD Athlon system and that was a nightmare regarding hardware compatibility with TV cards, video cards, SCSI controllers etc. AMD is f...
