Re: FEATURE REQUEST: setFirstVideoTrackAsDefault
This thread now has almost 5,600 views, surely that must count for something? People are obviously searching out this feature. Just because people read the thread doesn't mean that they want the feature. I read it out of curiosity. I would say that the gauge of if people want the feature is if they...

Re: Failed to open disc: audio DVD
MakeMKV is for ripping video, not audio so it cannot handle DVD-Audio discs. (I've run into this before).

Re: Profile: FLAC vs Default
I can only speak to my experience with audio FLAC. I have several albums that are FLAC 5.1. They play perfect on my Yamaha AVR.
I don't know how something like Atmos will translate to FLAC 7.1.

You will probably get more answers from Handbreak than here.

Re: Can't allocated folder on NAS to save projects
We have no way of knowing how you have the NAS mounted to your system. This has nothing to do with MakeMKV, it's purely you learning how to use linux.

Re: Can't allocated folder on NAS to save projects
You are looking in the .MakeMKV directory.
You need to look in the directory where you have the NAS drive mounted. Probably in /media or possible /mnt. So on the left pane you'd click on Computer and then check /mount

Re: Linux ripping
As dcoke22 said, RAM and CPU are not as important as the drive. But he forgot to mention since you will be using a NAS is the network. If it only has a 100M network that will slow things way down. Hopefully it has a 1G network. As to the Linux distro, my personal choice is Linux Mint. Second would b...

I can also vouch that I've had nothing but a good experience with Alex. Based on my experiences, I'm sure any less-than-perfect interactions were not of malicious intent. I know we all want our business transactions to go perfectly, but I try to remember these forum deals are typically a one-man sh...

Re: MakeMKV not writing Dolby Vision
I don't use MakeMKV on Linux, so I'm guessing a little bit. That said, I think MakeMKV links to some libraries on your system and those libraries might be out of date. The Linux build post ( https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=224 ) has talk about libavcodec among other things. ...

Re: MakeMKV not writing Dolby Vision
Opps, I missed that he was on 21.09.
So I guess the question then is why when I rip on linux that I get DV and the OP does not?

Re: MakeMKV not writing Dolby Vision
I have an old version of mediainfo: 19.09, so that explains it. Also it's probable why OP thinks DV isn't being written. The Ubuntu version is very old. EDIT: updated to Mediainfo 22.03 and this is what the file looks like now: Video ID : 1 ID in the original source medium : 4113 (0x1011) Format : H...

Re: MakeMKV not writing Dolby Vision
Mediainfo doesn't directly show DV. Here's an example from a DV file: Video ID : 1 ID in the original source medium : 4113 (0x1011) Format : HEVC Format/Info : High Efficiency Video Coding Format profile : Main 10@L5.1@High HDR format : SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible Codec ID : V_MPEGH/ISO/HEVC I u...
