Thanks mike Indeed I've successfully converted my BH16NS55 (SVC code NS50) into WH16NS60 (SVC code NS60). So it is possible to convert a UHD Friendly drive into a "real" UHD drive and viceversa. I think with my findings, it is possible also to convert a BH16NS40 into BH16NS55 (from NS40 to...

No, because DOSFLASH detects only IDE/SATA devices, not USB !! :(

You should first dump your 1.03 firmware before downgrading.

Anyway, it can be downgraded and made UHD friendly again.

Ive got the drive (UK) with firmware 3.0 on it.If you point me to a util that will dump the firmware I will do it for you Try this : 32 BIT 64 BIT Open an elevated command prompt and type : flasher -D to display the Asus Drive ID. It is always possible to do a firmware downgrade, so I wouldn't worry about which revision/firmware comes on a new LG drive.

Better thing he can do is to crossflash it to other similar devices (LG).
