Re: Ultimate UHD (slim) Drives 2020 advice request (post moved)
Not sure about those, but I have an external Blu-ray slim burner BP50NB40 svc NB50 that works just fine. It's USB 2.0 though. Compared to my USB 3.0 enclosure with the WH16NS60 drive, it is slower by a couple minutes or so. Both are Libre drives and can work with UHD

Re: Playlist for Jay and Silent Bob Reboot?
I just tried my copy, it seem to be the correct playlist for the Blu-ray Amazon one.

Re: 4K Quality and Blu-ray ??
To the first question on the quality of the rip, yes it will rip at the quality of the Blu-ray itself, there is no conversion. For the 4k video, as far as I know, currently 4k video is available on disk as UHD Blu-rays and will require a UHD compatible drive to rip. To playback 4k content at lower r...

Re: Game of Thrones Season 8 (BluRay)
Based on the drive info that was posted, you are most likely getting that from the AACS 72 revocation and MakeMKV doesn't have a key for AACS 72 yet. A LibreDrive that ignores it is the only way to read these discs currently and your drive isn't supported yet so another drive that is supported would...

Re: Converting 7.1 audio to 5.1
You can use Handbrake to convert it. Rip the MKV with MakeMKV , then use MKVToolNix and extract the audio, convert with handbrake and then use MKVToolNix to splice it back in. There's probably an easier way to do it,but it was what i have installed.

Re: Zootopia 4K, possible to extract Atmos?
Yes, it is possible. You would use MKVToolNix and strip out the Atmos Track and then splice it into the mkv file you want it to go to. Hopefully the track lengths are the same so you wont get audio de-sync issues.

Re: Dolby TrueHD/Atmos EAC3 and Plex
After messing with it for a couple days, it seems it comes down to the player itself. Direct playback, my TV and Blu-ray player cannot direct stream with MKV file the Atmos track to my receiver. Using Plex on my TV, it will play the MKV movie just fine but the Atmos track is played/transcoded as Tru...

Re: Dolby TrueHD/Atmos EAC3 and Plex
From what I can tell from my research is that 7.1 TrueHD track is the Atmos Track because it has backwards compatibility to use TrueHD for when which ever player you use doesn't support it. The EAC3 5.1 part of the track I believe is the extension to the format or something, but don't take my word f...

Re: Can anyone recommend a good EXTERNAL LibreDrive compatible Blu-Ray player / burner
What's good is pretty subjective. Here's my experience with the two drives I have. I have the LG BP50NB40 svc-NB50 external slim and the LG WH16NS60 internal drive that was put in an external USB 3.0 enclosure. Here are the differences between the two. LG BP50NB40 - To get it to read UHD discs, it m...

Re: Pavarotti
If you're willing to do it by trial and error, try full decrypted back up of the disc and then play each of the segments in the BDMV \ STREAMS folder from 500-515 and try to figure out the order. So far segments have been roughly in the 500 range for the main movie. Check out the segments map from m...

Re: Playback device for 4kUHD rips plus ATMOS & Subtitles
This kind of question seems for fitting for sites like the avsforum or videohelp forums. This page https://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/dolby-atmos-movies/ can probably give you a good general idea of what devices that can possibly do it. I'm actually curious what other devices I have can do i...

Re: Blu-ray Rips, But No Audio Track
When you select the the video you want to rip, check to see the audio tracks you want are selected. If it is and you're using something like handbrake to shrink the file, make sure handbrake isn't stripping the tracks out, I've made that mistake a few times

Re: Reducing MKV size with Handbrake without loosing too much quality
https://codecalamity.com/encoding-settings-for-hdr-4k-videos-using-10-bit-x265/ This should help as a starter, not sure about the loss of 10bit to 8bit being I see an update from 2017/2018 that can handle 10bit but that may be worth looking into in case I am wrong. I have a 40TB adaptec raid and wi...
