There is a known issue that many players have trouble playing interlaced VC-1 video. What do you mean by "useable mkv"? Does it play at all?

it looks like something is wrong with an mpeg-4 video stream. to diagnose we would need to look at actual video frames that cause the problem but it looks like 49 lines with this information were removed from a log file.

This is windows write error - "C000020C - The transport connection is now disconnected". Whatever destination you're writing on it looks like it has bad "connection". I guess it is an external disk with a loose USB cable.

please open preferences dialog, enable "log debug messages", restart the program and convert disc. In the lower pane it will display "log file saved as XXX", please send us this log file to svq@makemkv.com or post it here. The log file may contain your username so feel free to ed...

You need a drive that is capable of writing to _some_ media. Since this drive supports CD and DVD writing it should work fine with MakeMKV.

can you please provide more information? what are the discs? were there any errors displayed during conversion?
