Which Mac Blu-ray Player Software?
I have the need to view my Blu-ray Disc backups such that I can see the menus as it would normally play in a regular BD player. Can you recommend a software player that will allow me to view my BD backups on my Mac? I was demoing one application (Blu-ray Player Pro) which looked promising at first b...

Fastest DVD Backup (Mac)?
Long ago I used MacTheRipper for DVD backups (decrypting the DVD). Sometimes I still want to backup the DVD, which I believe would be the fastest way to process (get it on the hard drive) the DVD disc. So, since MakeMKV does not do backups of DVDs what options do I have as a Mac user for software to...

Thanks for the reply but I would not expect that to be accurate.

Re: Subtitle->Text English (Lossy Conversion)
So how do you "do it"? How do you process your STs for best results?
Thanks,
Rob

Is the extraction time in the log?
When ripping or backing up... are these elapsed times shown in the GUI also stored in the log somewhere? I use the Mac version of MakeMKV.
Thanks,
Robert

Re: Understanding Subtitles--Please Explain!
Okay, it's hard to understand what I want when there can be up to 4 versions per language that all appear the same. However with the MediaInfo.app on Mac I can see that the counts and other metadata for a given Subtitle track is different but when I play a scene I cannot decree a difference, For exa...

DVD & Blu Ray Extras...
When I rent or purchase a disc, I'm very interested in the Extras content... Lately it's been a crap shoot with Netflix rentals. I have no way of knowing which disc has bonus content and which is movie only. I rented a movie called Happy Death Day. I've seen this movie before but I wanted to see the...

Re: Understanding Subtitles--Please Explain!
I was just analyzing my Subtitle tracks (for Hysteria, the other movie was Happy Death Day) and I noticed the following observations about the Subtitles: One, Subtitles only (without descriptive text and without black background) Two, Subtitles with Descriptive text and using a black background... T...

Re: Friends s04e23 & 24, how to handle?
Splitting this double episode does not seem like an option because there is no opener for the second episode... no obvious place to cut. Also, did you notice that there are two versions of this double episode where one is slightly larger than the other? Any ideas how they might be different? Thanks,...

Understanding Subtitles--Please Explain!
Massive Subtitle confusion here. I typically select all English options and a few (if not all) foreign language options. Recently I've noticed when selecting all, I ended up with more than one Spanish and French... Today, I see that I three versions of English subtitles. Can you help me make sense o...

Friends s04e23 & 24, how to handle?
On the Friends Season 4 Disc 4 the Season Finale is a wedding scene where there is a part1 and part2. The DVD has this episode as just one file which included part 1 and 2... Yet, TVDB shows this as two different shows that aired on the same date. It looks like this aired in one night and that the t...

Re: Subtitle->Text English (Lossy Conversion)
I'm able to rip with no problem with this CC selected. I'm still not sure what it does.... From what I can tell, Closed Captions on DVDs are carried in a special data channel of the MPEG-2 video stream... so, what part of this situation is "Lossy"?

Subtitle->Text English (Lossy Conversion)
While ripping my personal Friends DVDs to be used via Plex, I can see that one of the Subtitle choices shows as: "Subtitle->Text English (Lossy Conversion)". What is this exactly? What's the significance of having this box checked?
Thanks,
Rob

Re: TV Show Extras--A slick way to handle this?
Since TVDB expressly forbids the use of their database for DVD Extras, I'm forced to use the Plex DB and to add things manually. The only down side is that if the specials were moved to another Plex DB then the manually entered metadata would not be there.
