Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I don't remember the FEL doing much for No Time to Die. If someone can figure out what timestamp they're talking about, maybe I'll take a look. It's probably around 00:44:19. Anyways, whatever difference they're seeing has nothing to do with FEL or the Dolby Vision metadata. There's no difference wi...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I doubt it matters. The FTV Stick 4K Max also got CM v4.0 support through firmware upgrades.
AFAIK devices that support Dolby Vision in Android always bundle Dolby's proprietary library, and I guess it's not always kept up to date.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
I had a look at the issues with Saving Private Ryan (1998) flickering without FEL devices: https://www.avsforum.com/threads/media- ... t-62474107
Might be interesting to some reading here too.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
… The only time the BL is full range is if it's profile 5. My question was how can the range be checked for a Dovi P5 BL or another profile aside from inspecting metadata? Sorry if it was unclear. Aside from RPU metadata full range flag, is there a tool or some means that can confirm that the video...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
sorry for this OT Q, is there a reliable method to check a DoVi BL video colour range (full vs limited) ? I have found few methods online that analyze the BL using ffprobe lavfi.signalstats.[YMIN,YMAX] where results may conflict with the metadata in either video container headers (ffprobe pc/tv) an...

Re: All Quiet on the Western Front (2022) - DV issue
do you think re-injecting the rpu only would fix it completely? just the timestamps of the EL that are broken? if not, maybe tomorrow i'll find the time to investigate the rpu in order to check what kind of "out-of-sync" the frames are (going by the scene_refresh_flag). maybe it can be fi...

Re: All Quiet on the Western Front (2022) - DV issue
quietvoid do you think first demuxing the disc with e.g. mkvtoolnix or dgdemux into separate files for BL and EL and then re-muxing the BL and EL with your tool might be a possible workaround? Yes but it would only workaround the MakeMKV issue. You would still have out of sync metadata at the times...

Re: All Quiet on the Western Front (2022) - DV issue
How is the playback of the physical disc? I haven't heard of issues yet, so it might not affect playback that much. Normally if *could* have an effect but it's very dependent on how the players behave. At worst the Dolby Vision metadata is out of sync but it might not be noticeable at all. The issu...

Re: All Quiet on the Western Front (2022) - DV issue
Yes this is the disc I was referring to in the other thread. Unfortunately the disc has authoring problems. The HDR10 video is not in sync with the 2nd stream (Dolby Vision EL) at the 1:47:39 timestamp, for almost a minute. MakeMKV doesn't react well to this and ends up completely dropping parts of ...

https://mega.nz/file/RaRylCZS#2VyRTsOm3BuyLMciM8owIN8k9uAFPJSTNsqD6cGfpRc had to make clip shorter, too much to upload for my crap internet lol That sample has little frames where brightness is increased, but a lot of near black is darkened. It seems to improve near black contrast and brighten some...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Ah I meant with the base layer too.
Does look like it would increase brightness, though. Hard to know without the full BL+EL+RPU.

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Anyone here look at the Star Trek The Next Generation movies that recently are out in 4k BR DV FEL? I've never seen so much video data in a FEL stream before (from just doing the put it in an mkv container and playback to see if FEL or if all green=MEL thing)! Normally you see a few multi-colored m...
