Re: Seeking Advice with my Pioneer BDR-212UBK
I don't know if this is important but I'll add to this in saying that I've intentionally not updated the firmware on the drive or installed any of the official software for it with the intention of flashing it if required to unlock full functionality. Will custom firmware let me use any software I ...

Re: LibreDrive vs Direct
You should read https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=18856 My understanding is that LibreDrive is a modification to the drive firmware which the allows the running disc reading software to be modified in RAM. This second modification gives you direct access to the disc data. So y...

Re: DVD mkvs worse quality compared to blu-ray player playing same dvd
Most flat screen TV's and some Blu-Ray players use software routines to "upgrade" the DVD resolution to better match the display resolution. If your Blu-Ray player or TV has a USB input and is compatible with MKV files, try playing the MakeMKV file through this USB port. It should match pl...

You probably already saw this but a double click will not copy the entire code due to the second character "-". Use a triple click to get the full key.

Re: No video
More detail on what you are trying to do, please. If you are making a MKV of one playlist, it may be possible to expand that playlist and de-select the video track and then make a "no-video" copy. What does VLC or MKVtoolnix say about the structure of your MKV file? Does it include a video...

Re: over 200 MKVs corrupted after restore from deletion
There are a few other tools - mkvalidator, mkvclean at https://www.matroska.org/ you can try.
Most likely you will need to re-rip the BRs. Search for "multiple instances" on MakeMKV and use an SSD for the destination drive.

Re: over 200 MKVs corrupted after restore from deletion
Sorry about your bad luck recovering those files. Try remuxing a few mkvs with MKVToolnix. Though the new file may be better or worse.

Re: MAKEMKV fails to convert slideshows
Thanks for pointing out a weakness in MakeMKV and a work around by using MKVTOOLNIX to convert the m2ts segment file into a properly timed MKV slideshow. In a way you've also answered Damian83's question https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=27614 on why MakeMKV is still beta - it'...

Re: Do all external blu ray players have the ability to rip docs discs to hard drive?
This is a good question. Any blu-ray reader will work with MakeMKV. However, if the Disk AACS version is higher than the current MakeMKV is expecting, the drive can be revoked and no longer work as a blu-ray reader. Mike, the author of MakeMKV, created LibreDrive firmware for common LG, Asus and rec...

Re: Missing Episodes
Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately it did not work. MakeMKV got halfway through the giant 37+GB file and then started getting all kinds of errors. I all tried it with another program and got the same result. Then I tried the other giant file and an interesting thing happened. Both files faile...

Re: Missing Episodes
If you do a search here for "Supernatural" some of the seasons did not breakout the individual episodes so one or both of the giant files contains all six episodes. The replies in the search results generally recommend ripping the large file and then separating at the chapter breaks which ...

Re: JRE issues...or something else?
I did rip No Time to Die with MakeMKV 1.16.5 and the log said it was using JRE though there was no obfuscation. Played the MKV through on the TV and saw no noise or artifacts. The reviewers were a little harsh.
Sorry, I have no further ideas for you.

Re: JRE issues...or something else?
JRE is used to help MakeMKV find the correct mpls on some disks. Since you know the correct mpls from your rips with noise, what happens if you hide the JRE and rip that mpls again? If you still had the noise then it would be something other than JRE. Added: Noise is usually caused by limits of the ...
