Re: Life of Pi
I just finished watching the Life of Pi. The rip was perfect no artifacts or issue, just good clean audio and video. My granddaughter is visiting and we watched Argo and Life of Pi. She asked how do I know if a movie is good? I told her there is a simple rule: If it is nominated for the Best Picture...

Re: Life of Pi
I was able to resolve the issue (I think). I had anydvd in the machine so I started it first and then started makeMKV. The process completed normally and ripped the disk. I opened about 1 minute in my theater and started correctly so the Pressure is off. I presume what I sent will assist you in impr...

You should be getting an email at svq@makemkv.com with a link to the file. If that does not work let me know.
How will I know when the issue is resolved?

Re: Life of Pi
Sorry But I can not find any links to an svq or any instructions. I did pull out a text file from the dump that was titled log.txt. It is here: Debug log started at Mon Mar 11 18:53:27 2013 , written by MakeMKV v1.8.0 win(x64-release) Using 524544KB for read cache. 001005:0000 MakeMKV v1.8.0 win(x64...

Re: Proper way to convert existing files to MKV
This might be better handled off line. My name is "barry". I own the domain "the-gordons.net" so my email address should be obvious. I don't do anything fancy. My goal is to have just the movie, no trailers, No FBI warnings, no ... Just the movie. I tell MakeMKV to skip any file ...

Re: Subtitles and forced subtitles
Thanks for the reply. That helps. I would have liked to use MKVtools, but from what I see there is onkly a MAC version, and I do my work on a PC based system.

Subtitles and forced subtitles
I have several questions on forced subtitles and subtitles in general in various scenarios. I have ripped all my DVD's and BR disk to ISO folders (Blurays have BDMV folder BDMV\Strean etc., DVD's have a folder with Video_TS .ifo, .bup and all the .vob files.) I have no issue having MKV re-process th...

converting Video_TS.ifo to mkv
I am in the middle of a process to convert all my dvd and br disks to mkv. I am doing the dvd's first and I have the process fully automated. I convert using the command line option and point makeMKV at the VIDEO_TS.ifo file as recommended. There is one issue that has me puzzeled. Most of the time t...

Re: Proper way to convert existing files to MKV
Well I am about 1/4 of the way through my DVD collection (523 total movies/TV shows). I wrote a program that does it all automatically using Makemkv in command line mode. I just run it all night and most of the time during the day. It is somewhat tailored to my NAS configuration but I can modify it ...

Proper way to convert existing files to MKV
BR files: I have converted all my BR disks to decrypted BR format on my NAS. I converted one disk, Avatar, by giving MakeMKV the file \BDMV\Stream\00000.m2ts. The conversion went smoothly and the reultant file seems to play perfectly (I only sampled the begining). I am new to MakeMKV and read here t...

File Size
I had ripped a Blu Ray disk to Blu ray format using another ripper before I discovered MakeMKV. The resultant m2ts file was about 27 Gbytes. I then asked MakeMKV to convert that file to mkv format (I pointed makemkv to the stream.index file). It read and processed the file but the rsultant file was ...
