Re: Custom firmware discussion
Thank you @SamuriHL for the links and explanation. About the patched MK Firmware, to my understanding unless I'm wrong, Mike modified the MK Firmware so it can By-Pass the Downgrade Restriction on the newer Asus BW-16D1HT drives that comes with the 3.10FW manufactured this 2019? For example, if I p...

Re: Custom firmware discussion
The big warning and caveat is to make sure you know what you're flashing to your drive. E.G. NS40 owners *MUST* make sure they have a SVC code of NS50 and that the drive is mfg'd after 2015 before flashing anything. Thank you @SamuriHL for the links and explanation. About the patched MK Firmware, t...

Re: Custom firmware discussion
Just a suggestion to avoid confusions on downgrading custom firmwares, maybe we can have just one “Wiki” thread dedicated to discussing firmware usages. And all the firmwares can be downloaded from that one thread. In other forums, they would have a “Wiki” thread dedicated to a specific topic.

Re: Exploding Blu-Ray Disc In Asus BW-16D1HT
Thanks for the detailed info, Rojma. It’s good that the replacement drive is on it’s way. Exploded discs inside the optical drive seems rare as I haven’t read any articles or posts in forums about this problem.

Re: Exploding Blu-Ray Disc In Asus BW-16D1HT
I purchased an Asus BW-16D1HT drive just under a month ago and put it in an Vantec NexStar external enclosure. I downgraded the firmware to 3.02 successfully and started ripping my movie and music collection successfully with MakeMKV. I was able to rip my CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays, and 4K Blu-Rays. Anyon...

Re: MakeMKV licensing question
@nanoman06 I’ve changed computers and reformatted the OS many times and the key always works fine, no need for reactivation. MakeMKV is a proficient app and worth buying the license. It’s versatile that it works on all 3 platforms - Windows, Mac and Linux.

Re: Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse Blu Ray Issue
@wodie I was able to rip Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse blu-ray successfully. I’m using a Pioneer BDR-209 DBK drive connected externally via Firewire to my Mac. Using OS 10.9 Mavericks. You can try isolating the problem by using a different optical drive, change the USB cable or air-blow the drive...

Re: Pioneer optical uhd drive

Re: DVDs not ripping
I have had the same problem consistently. Maybe three of the last 12 or so DVDs I tried to rip would rip properly, and the usual symptom was the spinning with no progress being made. I'm wondering if this is due to something changing in Windows, because I haven't had this problem in the past. I did...

Re: New Blu-ray player/burner ?
The best blu-ray drives you can check out are the LG WH16NS40 or the ASUS BW-16D1HT. If you’re into 4K UHD viewing too, these drives can read 4K discs with the correct firmware. Personally I prefer big 5.25 drives with its own power supply. The bigger drives can handle ripping large files better.

Re: Frustrated trying to rip.
All discs for the most part open without issue and I am able to select main title and audio track. Sometimes they fail quickly, other times its after almost an hour of ripping. All discs are in EXCELLENT condition. NO smudges, "haze" or scratches. Also tried older 1.12.2 and 1.12.3 versio...

Re: Playing 4K HDR Bluray RIP directly
Are you sure that I can I run 4K HDR Bluray .mkv directly from HDD by plugging it to the TV. Is there any requirement of software etc. Your HD TV needs to be connected to your computer to play .mkv movies. The TV needs to be compatible with your computer. You’ll need a third party player like Power...
