Re: Can MakeMKV save only selected chapter(s) to the MKV out
There is a program called MKVSplit, which will split by chapters, but you'd probably be better off just using MKVMerge. In MKVMerge, under the "Global" tab, there are options for splitting files by size or duration. That seems to be what you really want. Just use MakeMKV to rip the movie, ...

Once you rip the DVD, you can use this tool (CLICK) to split it by chapters.

Re: MKV - Auto Batch Chapter Renaming
There's a program called ChapterGrabber that will read the chapters from a disc, and create a chapter file with the names. To use it on something you have already ripped, you need to scan the disc (it just takes a few seconds) and use MKVMerge to add the chapters to the mkv.

Again, thank you No problem. BTW, you can also use another splitter called LAVFSplitter. If I'm not mist...

Do as crowfax suggested, and you can even use MKVMergeGUI to create a chapter file that will allow you to jump to each title.

Re: Avatar Collector Version longue
I don't own (or ever plan to own) either of those, but you have my curiosity.... How many streams are there, and are they actually necessary subs? To each his own and all, but why would anyone mux 30+ subtitle streams into a movie? I mean, I could see them including them on a disc, but it's hard to ...

Re: Avatar Collector Version longue
Nope, I'm positive. It may be fixed now (I've used only Haali for quite some time), but I remember vividly the headaches I got trying to figure out why my Star Wars rips wouldn't play in MPC. I narrowed it down by removing some of the chapter markers, which made the files playable. Although I do rem...

Re: True HD Extraction and WD TV Live
My guess would be that it's because the TrueHD track in the mkv does not contain the AC3 core - it is simply .thd and the .ac3 core is saved as a separate track - in .m2ts files it is saved as .thd+ac3 just like it would be on the disc. As far as I know, there is only one muxer which can handle .thd...

Re: Feature Request - Naming Tracks
I agree, that's a feature I'd like to see, specially for chapters. Dissassembling a MKV, changing chapter names and assembling it again is not pratical. You don't have to remux to name the chapters: Open mkvmergeGUI > click the chapters tab > drag the file into the Chapters field (for large files, ...

Re: Avatar Collector Version longue
You need to install Haali (or some other Matroska splitter) to play that file with MPC-HC. There's a limitation on the number of chapters the internal MPC-HC splitter can handle (39 chapters is the limit, I think).
Also, make sure you uncheck the Matroska splitter in the MPC-HC's internal filters.

Re: Feature Request... Retain TrueHD 'AC3 Core'
Just curious, if you create an mkv with a THD+AC3 stream, can the core be streamed over SPDIF via MPC+FFdshow or any of the hardware players (such as WD Media players)?
