Re: Are there any drives left with the right specs?
Just wanted to follow up on this. Alex (in this thread) sold me a WH16NS40 with firmware 1.02 at a very reasonable price (too cheap all things considered)). Plug & Play. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Alex! Awesome .. next time I am in the Bay Area, I am buying you a beer for your good ...

Re: BW-16D1HT Not reading UHD
Your firmware version indicates 3.02, however my drive had 3.02 also but a manufacture date of February 2018 where ASUS had plugged in the AACS loophole, so I had to downgrade it to the friendly 3.02 firmware. What is the manufacture date of your drive? It can be found on the label underneath the dr...

Re: Are there any drives left with the right specs?
It is pretty much a drive lottery now ... I got a LG WH16NS40 drive from Fry's Electronics that Alex had suggested that worked right out of the box without any firmware downgrade. The other ASUS BW-16D1HT I ordered from Newegg had the 3.02 firmware that had pugged the AACS loophole and I had to dow...

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS
Hello. Fantastic guide. I have two drives on the way from Jet.com. In the event that I need to roll back, I have been researching this process. I was wondering if it is possible to install the EEPROM Data Mover program also on the root of the USB drive with DOSFLASH_Windows7 and execute it? Then th...

Re: UHD drives
I typically clean my discs under running tap water and using some dawn dishwashing liquid on a soft microfiber cloth. Then dry them with a clean dry microfiber cloth by wiping them from the center hole to the outside radially but NEVER in concentric circles. Even with brand new 4K UHD discs straight...

I do have the ASUS BW-16D1HT with the Vantec Enclosure https://www.amazon.com/Vantec-NST-536S3 ... B01MRUN0HQ and it is workign great for me. I did have to downgrade the ASUS firmware to the clean & friendly 3.02 and everything works great now.

Re: SUDDENLY ASUS BW-16D1HT READING AT 2.0X (8.9 M/s)
I also got an LG WH16NS40 because they said it would work if it had SVC code NS50, but my firmware was too new. And I can't make heads not tails of Teddy Raspin's instructions. It is extremely simple once you decide to follow his instructions and have the right hardware to do it. I struggled over t...

1:1 copy to .mkv container?
It has been a while since I ripped BluRays .. made a 1:1 backup of a 4K UHD disc (Blade Runner - The Final Cut). I was expecting a .mkv file, however here's the directory structure the tool made ... BladeRunner > AACS > BDMV > CERTIFICATE > discatt.dat Cannot find the .mkv file anywhere that I can s...

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS
Also for people trying to find a clean firmware for the ASUS BW-16D1HT drive, here's one attached that @TeddyRaspin had posted in another thread. Since this thread is about the guide to flashing, I think it is appropriate to post it here too rather than go searching for it in other threads. ASUS_BW-...

Re: 100% Firmware Downgrade for ASUS BW-16D1HT and LG BH16NS
Hi guys, here is my own guide to successfully dump and downgrade firmware on any "UHD Friendly" devices, such as Asus BC-12D2HT / BW-16D1HT or LG BH16NS40/NS55 (WH16NS40/NS55) (SVC Code NS50) and similar drives having MediaTek chipset inside them. ......................... Thanks a ton fo...
