Newbie questions and problem?

Post by ArcticWhiteZ51 »

Hello,

Just trying MakeMKV for the first time today. It recognized the Blu Ray and appeared to backup just fine. Isn't the software supposed to create a .mkv file? If so I can't find it in the backup directory. Maybe I'm way off base here??? Here is the log file:

Debug log started at Sat Jun 11 19:30:52 2016 , written by MakeMKV v1.9.10 win(x86-release)

You must have selected to backup the disc instead of opened it to select files and then create the MKV tray/file to hold the media files.

Once you have you disc loaded in the drive, make sure that MakMKV recognizes it and then click on the the drive. This should open the disc and read all the titles. Tip...you may want to change your settings to only allow files larger than 1200 seconds (20 minutes), otherwise you may have a VERY large list full of many titles you don't care about.

Once the disc is opened by MakeMKV, you should be able to select title you want (the main title), as well as audio and video tracks. After you have everything selected as you wish, click the "Save selected titles" button (the one with the lime green arrow point to disk). It's on both the top of the application button bar area, or at the far right of the application.

BTW...great choice of movie :D

This may be another bug: "Backup" in Mac OS X version is disabled (greyed out), hence I never used it.
I only use "open disk" or "open files". Thus I would agree with taylor.

Backup is a BD-only feature, so it won't appear for any DVD.

When you do a backup, it creates a copy of the file system found on the BD. One problem is that OS X treats the directory "BDMV" as a reserved directory, so it may hide it from you.
