"Playback" is not the same as "Reading" for copying...

Same thing happens when I try to rip this disc. I've tried both with AnyDVDHD disabled and enabled. However, if I rip the disc with AnyDVDHD, MakeMKV is able to make MKVs from the rip.

btw: Video codec is VC-1.

@trondmm

Hi!

Instead of using AnyDVDHD, try ripping the FULL DISC to your hard drive with Make MKV - and then use MakeMKV with the hard drive FULL DISC rip to create an .MKV...

I can't. The backup menuitem in MakeMKV is disabled when I insert HD DVDs.

Ok, I'll give it a go on one of the other machines I've got just to see. I'm working through a couple hundred HD DVDs, so I'm bound to find some more :)

Have had 3 successes and one fail now.

--- Edit
Never mind this, it was a faulty disk!
Got hold of another disk and it worked fine.
/Gnumule

1) Matrix Reloaded
2) Warner Brothers
3) VC-1
4) DDplus 3/2+1 and TrueHD 5.1
5) Makemkv reads the HD-DVD and decrypts, very slowly. When I press the "Make mkv" button the drive searches for a while and then I get the error log below. Seems like it might be something wrong with the disk..? But it plays fine.
6) Debug log:

I had to rip lucky number slevin using AnyDVD HD as it wouldn't rip with 1.6. I'm afraid I don't know the details as I didn't bother to keep them (I am trying to crank my way through >1000 disks).

So now I have all the raw files, ripped and theoretically unprotected.

Using makemkv 1.62 I thought I would therefore be able to save the files, but alas no:

Hi!

I doubt that "mike admin" will be able to do much without the Debug Log from your MamkeMKV attempt.

However, if you look just two posts above yours, it seems that you are not alone...
