Do the devs monitor this thread any more? I ask because I've found a few problematic HD-DVDs as I've been ripping my collection...wondering if they're worth reporting or not. Thanks.

I have the same issue with Riddick but the vast Majority of Universal releases are fine. I noticed it is particular publishers that don't work:
Studio Canal (Have 6+ none work)
BBC / 2Entertain (About Half Broken)
Weinstein (All)
Concorde (All)
A few obscure titles (Eg. UFO)

I am new to this stuff so please bear with me. I am just in the process of ripping my HD-DVD collection so I can access them from XBMC. When I try and play them the picture keeps freezing and there is no sound, this is when I try and play them in XBMC. I have tried to play them in MPC-HC and the symptoms are the same but if I click on filters I see there is a number of audio filters the are about five MPC Audio Decoders running which doesn't seem right to me.

The films affected are

Serenity
Full Metal Jacket

I've got another 40 to do but if someone can shed some light on this issue before I start that would be great.

I'm guessing you are talking about the USA Universal release and not the German Concorde release (?). USA release has been OK for a long time.

1) Sixth Sense
2) Hollywood Pictures Spyglass Entertainment
3) Bluray MTS
4) LPCM 5.1 and DD 5.1 English
5) Video and audio playback on computer - audio format not supported on Oppo 103 (first time with that issue for a BR)
6) Operation successfully completed
Saving 1 titles into directory G:/Azureus/
Forced subtitles track #4 turned out to be empty and was removed from output file
1 titles saved

tried switching audio on my BR player as I recorded both LPCM and DD but neither plays back.

For some reason if you select both audio tracks it won't let you play either but if you only encode the DD, the oppo can play it back.

Update - not sure why but the Oppo couldn't play it again - I ended up converting with bytecopy - slightly smaller but it plays back.

Hi!

This thread is for posts regarding problematic HDDVDs, whereas your post appears to be regarding a Blu-ray disc...

[Just tried several times to post a problem HD DVD (U-571/Universal) to this thread and each time Firefox tell me the site has been reset! I then gradually cut back the content and it seems your system will not allow me to include the content of the debug log file, either appended to the below or in a separate post. So, I've provided all that your system will allow me to provide.]

Hi, Just read through the thread and see others have had this problem with other titles. I'm using MakeMKV 1.8.11 (just downloaded and installed) on Win7 Ultimate 64bit with an X-Box external HD DVD drive.

U-571
Universal
1080p VC-1
Eng,Esp,Fra DD+5.1 Eng DTS 5.1
Problem is that MakeMKV appears to run fine, no errors reported, but finds only the extra content (6 items), not the main feature.

As I said, I tried multiple times to provide the content of the debug log file (copy and paste using both Editpad Lite and Win Notepad.) Hope the info I was able to provide is enough.

!!! Ignore this report, I needed to clean the disc, "Forbidden Planet" copies fine! !!! :)

I read that "Forbidden Planet" had a problem so thought I'd try it. MakeMKV was unable to save the first title which just happens to be the main feature, the other titles saved fine. MakeMKV 1.8.11.

Forbidden Planet
Warner Brothers
1080p vc-1
Eng DD+5.1, Fra,Esp DD1.0
The main feature was not copied.

That says the drive can't read the disk. MakeMKV can only ask the drive to try more times (its in the Tools->IO menu), but that rarely helps. Cleaning the disk is the first step, possibly waxing it to fill in any small scratches.
