The OPEN dialog starts in the last directory it was used in. Does that directory currently exist?

If not, you will have to enter or select a directory that DOES exist after you bring up the Open dialog.

But even if I enter the path manually nothing happens. It’s stuck like you see in this imgur picture.

I am also getting this error while trying to open files, using a totally different app:

https://github.com/SubtitleEdit/subtitl ... ssues/3182

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/729 ... ory-dialog

Search for:
DC1C5A9C-E88A-4DDE-A5A1-60F82A20AEF7

Look the error:

Could this be an explanation to what's going on with MakeMKV? I also tried a previous version and didn't work. It's simply stuck and can't open or browse anything anymore.

It was working before, though.

Oddly enough the app from:

Works if I just drag the files there. But it will NOT WORK if I tell it to open a new file.

What Windows Version are you using? The Explorer Window looks different to Win 10.

The Explorer Window shows only matching files which matches to the types listed in the "Files of Type" selection.

The last error are not from MakeMKV, they are from the MKVExtract GUI.

It's Windows 10 Pro, I believe the last version, since Windows Update says it's already using the last one. And it's 64 bit.

What I believe is going on is that this error might not be entirely from MakeMKV, since MKVExtract GUI exhibits the same odd behavior when I try to do the same thing, which is to open that dialog box.

In MakeMKV's case the issue is that nothing appears in its dialog box, only "My computer" and it doesn't work if you enter any path manually. It's simply stuck there and can't open any file from a Blu-ray or DVD folder. It wasn't like that before, so I can only assume it's a malware issue or Windows (DLL ?) internal problem that messed with the program.

Is there a way to fix this? I tried for MKVExtractGUI and failed to find a solution. I believe if I can do for it I will also fix MakeMKV.

You may be running afoul of the "malware protection" introduced in the last major update. You have to give permission to programs to access areas considered "private", to prevent malware from encrypting your data files.

The Win 10 Pro 64bit File Explorer Window which is started by MakeMKV looks different. Unter the "My Computer" the drives and other stuff must be listed in the left box, the "File Type" selection box and the "Open"option are on different locations compared with your screenshot.

If I remember right, there was a similar problem years ago. Can't rember what was the cause. But it can be a problem with some Windows DLLs which are replaced by some tool installations.

Do you have a backup or system snapshoot?
can't open any file from a Blu-ray or DVD folder
Why are you opening the discs over this way? Press the big Buttom with the anaimated disc logo and MakeMKV starts. Okay, this does not solve the problem, but you can access discs.

I discovered what was causing this issue:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... trast-mode

When I disabled high contrast MakeMKV began to work again.

And gMKVExtractGUI stopped showing that error when I opened the dialog box.

So this is a Windows 10 issue after all, uh?
