Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
Sorry I mean MP4!
I am just about to run it through CloneDB now but not sure what audio to select... which is best quality:
AAC Advanced Audio Codec?
Or
Dolby Digital AC3?
Thanks

Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
Sorry I missed this.
So If I do a backup with MakeMKV, use CloneDB to identify what files to use and then use MakeMKV again to convert it into an MKV?
Does that sound right?

Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
You could. It'll tell you which playlist to use.
Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
Yeah, I'm getting there now pal!
I did rip it initially but I'm thinking next time I can hopefully just read the disc with CloneDB (so I don't have to rip it twice), it will tell me the mpls number then when highlighting the tree in MakeMKV I can look for that mpls and that's the file I use? right?
It's making the MKV now using the method above now, I'll check it soon and my bro should be home any minute so I should be able to test it on his TV.

Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
Um, no. You can't just rip it with CloneBD. Go back and re-read what I and woodstock said to you about this. It REQUIRES a decrypted source. A disc is NOT a decrypted source.
Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
I wasn't talking about ripping it with CloneBD, I was talking about READING it with CloneDB. I can't check now as it's running but will it not READ from the disc?

Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
Okay it finished burning and I tried and it said "nope". Still i backed up the correct file and I'm still not seeing the Dolby Vision in the MediaInfo... I can't work out what I'm doing wrong?

Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
For Alita - Battle Angel, I've back it up with MakeMKV... Opened the files in CloneBD and I thought the default file it selected was the one I backup in MakeMKV. Maybe that's where I'm going wrong?
How do I identify in CloneDB what the file to use in MakeMKV is please?

Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
I give up, just can't work it out. There's 3 files which have Dolby Vision it says and they are all like 40 seconds, 50 seconds and 1 minute 40 seconds so none of them.
Thanks for all your help anyway

Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
As for Alita select title 800 in MakeMKV and back that up. It might be wrong, but, I know that one has the Dolby Vision stuff. I have no idea what titles you've tried backing up so far but they seem wrong. CloneBD tells you what the titleset is when you check it on the selection screen. But do 800 and see what the MakeMKV made MKV looks like in media info.
Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
Okay I'll give this another go...
It's backing up 800 now and I can see in CopyBD where it says 800, but what I don't see/get is where in CopyBD it says 800 is the one with the Dolby Vision data?
If this backup works and I can figure that out i've cracked it!

Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
Remember you're not going to be able to PLAY these MKV backups with Dolby Vision. As for your question, CloneBD shows the metadata for each track when you hover over it. Dolby Vision is listed.
Re: Question about ripping DolbyVision and playing it
Yeah I forgot it couldn't be played and it's just for the future...
However, I've just finished backing up 800 and it's not there
