installing makemkv, explorer won't refresh anymore

Not sure if anyone has seen this, I'm having a peculiar problem after installing MakeMKV 1.14.5.

Here's the issue: after installing MakeMKV, any file operation (copy, move, delete) in Windows explorer it doesn't refresh the changes. Example: I deleted a file on the desktop, the file appears to be there, until I hit F5, then the file is gone reflecting the delete.

This is happening on 3 different machines, Dell Optiplex, HP Spectre, and Lenovo laptop.

To test that it is not caused by other software, I wiped the drive on the lenovo laptop, put fresh windows 10 install, install google chrome (to get MakeMKV), then install MakeMKV. The problem shows up right away.

I was able to get auto fresh back in the HP Spectre by uninstalling MakeMKV, but I couldn't get it back on the Dell or the Lenovo.

If anyone has any ideas how to fix it after the fact, I would like to hear about it.

I've had that issue with machines for years, whether or not MakeMKV is installed. It isn't just explorer, though; when the machines decide to have "senior moments", even using DIR at the CMD prompt can't make things appear as they change.

It's really weird when you're actively updating a directory with a non-Microsoft program in one window, and explorer says the directory doesn't exist.

I was able to fix it, reset the file explorer option. I didn't think to do it that way because there's no such option that you can disable in the first place.
Not sure why installing MakeMKV on a clean install would disable refresh on normal file ops. Well at least it's fixed now.

Can I ask what you reset? I'd LOVE to get rid of the "senior moment" responses, in part because if it corresponds with one of mine, I can't figure out what I was trying to do in the first place...

So if you go to File Explorer and go to View > Option in View tab.
The strange thing is that there's no 'disable auto refresh' in here, but clicking reset folders and restore defaults seem to do it.

Unfortunately, blindly resetting folders would not work for me - I have too many of them with customized views.

Decided to try to find the registry key that "reset defaults" might touch... In the first few google hits, over a dozen different registry entries that may or may not be present were recommended.
