can't find any usable optical drives

Post by blender »

I recently updated from v1.15.1 to v1.15.2, and am experiencing the issue where the optical drive isn't found. I've encountered this issue in the past and resolved it with the fixes from the forums, but those have not worked this time.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Steps taken:
- The installation launched as administrator
- Select 'CdRom Device Arbiter' during install: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 876#p92372
- Running app as administrator: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... it=#p91917
- Exclude executable from ransomeware protection. I've excluded all in the makemkv folder: https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... 454#p90454
- uninstall/reinstall - Tried to roll back to 1.15.1 and 1.14.7
- reboots - many times

Just wanted to provide an update as for some reason things are now working.

The last change I made was uninstalling 1.15.1 from add-remove programs, and restarting.
Installed 1.15.2 as administrator, but it still wouldn't see the drive.
Restarted again, and it is working.

I should note I received some strange errors possibly related to a drive issue:
002008:0020 Program reads data faster than it can write to disk, consider upgrading your hard drive if you see many of these messages.

I also did hear some weird noises coming from one of my drives...so I may actually be having legit hardware issues. That being said even with the error messages there were no issues with the video files!
