rips of same title produces differing files

Post by mymlact »

Hi,
I have some bluerays that I have backed up using makemkv and I wanted to produce a playable mkv to watch. I opened up the BDMV/index.bdmv file using makemkv to get the titles and chose the proper one. I then clicked on "save selected title" button and away it went. I ended up with the correct file for the movie. I did it again for the same title and compared the two files and for some reason they are different. I tried it on a different backup and the same thing happens.

I'm just curious as to how or why this would happen and if there is some way to find out what the differences are.

MakeMKV v1.15.4 win(x64-release)
Windows 10

Let me know if there is any other information required.

Thanks in advance.

MakeMKV inserts metadata about the rip in the MKV file, so that you can know what version of MakeMKV was used on what date. That means two files created at different times will not be identical.
