How to use "Backup"? (Registered only?)

Post by RpDnn »

Doing a forum search for 'Backup' is too broad (too many results) to answer my question.

I'm actually checking out MakeMKV for a less knowledgeable user, but it looks like a keeper.

However... MakeMKV has a 'Backup' button... and it remains eternally grayed out for me.
(And... there doesn't seem to be any 'online help' about it (hint).)

So, do I have to have the registered (purchased) version to use it? Or is it for blue-rays only (I don't have blue-ray acccess.)

Or is it something simpler that I've missed? And... what does it do? It's not a burner is it?

Thanks for assistance.

That only works with Blu-ray Discs.

"Backup" is a Bluray-only option that will copy the BD directory structure to your hard drive, with all files, optionally decrypting them as it does. What you get can be "played" by most BD-aware programs, with menus and everything.

This is distinct from the normal operation of making each title on the disk into a stand-alone MKV file. MKV files do not have menus, and will generally be the movie or episodes themselves, saved with only the pieces you select (audio tracks, subtitle tracks, etc).
