Some more detail on what you're trying to do would be in order, before guesses about compatibility with purpose can be made.

Are you trying to open a rip done by another program, or process files from a backup done by MakeMKV?

Debugging logs of what you're trying to do might explain it better.

I would post log file but I am not to the point of executing the program. I'm just trying to open a BD source file AVCHD Video (.m2ts). Files, then Open file, then select AVCHD Video (.m2ts) but these will not populate in the "select existing source file" So my question is, can makeMKV convert AVCHD Video (.m2ts) to MKV container?

All of my rips are done using AnyDVD HD consisting full structure file format.

thx

If you're opening a rip done by another program, you need to open the "index.bdmv" file in the BDMV directory of the BD file system. That will allow you to select the tracks to turn into MKV files.

Or, you could use Handbrake (from handbrake.fr) to process the M2TS files directly, and convert them to MKV or MP4.
