No. That is the HDR10 metadata. It’s clearly telling you what type of metadata it's using by labeling it “Commercial name : HDR10”. It can’t get any clearer than that.

Attempting to “play” that stream will get you nowhere. It’s not an actual standalone video stream.

No info? Google is your friend:

https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C9BK ... 30j0i22i30.

https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C9BK ... M2uqs3g1xU
Well, you are a delight to talk to.

This is the first time I've seen a "remux" MKV have its HDR10 metadata in a 1.6gb separate video stream. It's usually just that first track in MKVs and HDR10 still worked. Why would static meta data for HDR10 be 1.6gb in size? I think you should check some of those links you posted ;)

And MediaInfo telling me that stream is "HDR10" could've been an out-of-date sort of thing if adding DV to MKV was something new and MediaInfo was not yet able to detect it properly - hence my first post.

And by "no info on Google" I meant if there have been any advancement recently in adding DV to MKV, which is exactly like I phrased it in the first place. Typing in "Dolby Vision" into Google will obviously not lead me to an answer to this question.

Yup, HDR10 not Dolby Vision.
Okay, thank you!

Lulz!

Well technically at this time an Oppo is one of the best ways to view DV content, so can you really blame him?

LMAO. I watch my DV content on my UB820. Oppos are either very expensive or hard to find these days.

Yea, i didnt understand his attitude, since there are no media players that do dual stream DV anyway. So why get pissy that mkv doesnt support it.

I give you that. I see no reason either to hate or get frustrated over open source development/developers as it does not cost anything to begin with and they have no control over closed source content like DV, but to each their own I guess. :D

It could be argued that there are no media players that support DV because the containers they support also do not support it. It's a chicken/egg scenario, and I'll argue that the egg (container format) needs to come first in this case.

Well.. that’s the entire point of this thread and one which has been discussed in great detail. We know exactly why DV is currently not supported in the likes of the MKV format. So... we have to either put up with it and wait, or implement the solutions that do work at this time.

Here's another issue to consider. There's no official licensed player (i.e. PowerDVD) that supports DV on a PC AT ALL. And given that it's a closed format, storing it in a container such as MKV is only one small piece of the much larger puzzle. Even if you could store it properly, there's nothing to play it with. You'd need both decoder and renderer support for it. It's not likely coming any time soon. Measured in years, not weeks or months.

That 1920x1080 'HDR' layer is the Dolby Vision Metadata. I don't know why folks say MKV doesn't support a separate DV track alongside the HDR track. I've taken a full disk rip (of my legally purchased Valerian UHD), and used MKVtoolnix to mux the HDR and DV tracks from the main .M2TS file together into a single MKV file. Of course I've got nothing to play it back with, but the MKV container holds it just fine. Once someone figures out how to combine the two video tracks into a single video stream, we'll get our DV playback.

You can 'play' the DV layer in VLC, by selecting the second Video track. It looks about as you would expect with funked up colors, but you can see it clearly resembles the HDR track, just at lower resolution, with funked up colors.

It's a closed, proprietary format and no way to store it in MKV.
Today I saw a "release" of a movie that was MKV and had 2 video streams. I assume the second is the Dolby Vision layer.
MediaInfo:

Is it now possible for MKV to have the DV-layer? I can't seem to find any information on the Internet regarding this, I'm no expert though. I have the file and when selecting the second video track the video just stays black in MPC-HC with madVR, just like with the UHD-BD ts-files.

You guys do realize you can make an MP4 (I know not MKV) Dolby Vision back up from an ISO?

You'll need to demux an ISO and grab both video layers. Than you need to run it through a Dolby Vision Mp4muxer which is available for free online. The only caveat is the audio has to be in ac3 format.

But if you really want a Dolby Vision remux it's the only way.

That's a rather big caveat, considering that AC3 isn't very popular with the UHD crowd.

The point is it works and the only way right now to trigger Dolby vision on an lg oled through USB.

So it's either choose Dolby Vision or choose HD audio.

or you could just use a pc the best platform ever and use it as a m2ts file and have Dolby Vision, HDR 10, Atmos, DTS X, True HD, DTS MA HD
