Quite right (mux in -mode 2 for profile 8.1).
However, I do not recommend video encoding: it is technically wrong in the case of DoVi and my tool is not designed for this type of use!
Just my two cents, you are free to do what you want!
Encodes work great using profile 8.1. :) The only thing, you cannot CROP. :)

All those ".bat" files are USELESS!
They just generate confusion and I certainly will not create new ones!
The only useful one is "SHOW_HELP.bat": it tells you what to use to build a simple command line.
in help is written, that -skip-hdr10plus cannot be used with -mode 2... or this belongs to -fel_to_mel option before? if yes.. that my fault and wrong text formatting in CMD line.

I get a strange think after using MKV_patcher...

Code: Select all

HDR format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.00, EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / SMPTE ST 2094 App 4, Version 1, HDR10+ Profile B compatible

My advice doesn't change ...

Have you used the Patcher more than once on the same file (or in any case on a file that was already marked as dvhe 07)?
If the answer is yes, then I suggest you delete the file and start over!
The patcher should only be used once and on a blank file (not marked as dvhe).
Follow the instructions!

Great result! Thanks for not giving up! It's a shame about the Z9X + LG CX problem.

Yes the only change was to demux the audio track using tsmuxer. In fact I also demuxed the audio using MKVToolnix to produce a .mka file. This I then used in place of the .ac3 file and got exactly the same result.

Have you used the Patcher more than once on the same file (or in any case on a file that was already marked as dvhe 07)?
Yes... without the patch, file was generated as dvhe.07.00, and when run through MakeMKV, i go dvhe.07.00, EL+RPU... not BL...
After using the patch on that king of MKV, MakeMKV recons the MKV correctly and after re-re-mux, it's already OK....

My work flow:
1) mux BL+EL with -fel_to_mel
2) mux BL_EL_RPU.hevc with mkvtoolnix to MKV
3) re-mux with MakeMKV... got "Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.00, EL+RPU" (MakeMKV recognized MKV from step 2 as dvhe.07.00, BL+RPU)
4) patch with mkv_patcher... got "Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible / Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.00, EL+RPU"
5) re-mux with MakeMKV... got "Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.07.06, BL+EL+RPU, Blu-ray compatible)
6) done... even MakeMKV recognizes the file from step 5 as dvhe.07.06, BL+MEL+RPU...

Stop at step 2 and use my patcher on the mkv generated by MkvToolNix and you are done ...

We will discuss it again when someone else (with a device other than yours) does some testing.

ok... but why MakeMKV recognizes the file as "dvhe.07.00, BL+RPU" and creates "dvhe.07.00, EL+RPU"? :(

after my workflow, everything is correctly recognized in MakeMKV, ever MEL or FEL...

Don't get me wrong.. I really appreciate your great work. :) I'm just trying maybe help to make things easier and clearer... :)

And one question... are thore underscores still needed in "Movie Title" for MKV patcher?

No problem! :D
Do what you see fit!

I was saying it to save you time!

Why MakeMKV does not detect the correct profile level (07.00 vs 07.06) depends on the fact that my FEL -> MEL are not standard! The technical explanation can be found on the previous pages!

Yep, underscores are the heart of my hack ... without them the patcher can't work!

Sorry for the stupid question: where you put the underscores?
Example the film title is Back. Should I write Back73_ (if I choose prof.7)?
I have tried different ways with these underscores and, after the Mkv_Patcher always get this:

Where I am wrong?
By the way if I load the file from toolnix in makemkv I got DV and also hd audio and plays in Firestick and Ugoos and Shield.
But the file generated from Mkv_Patcher only plays in hdr.

In MkvToolNix, before start muxing, go to the "output" tab and in the "file title" field enter the title you want followed by 73 underscores in the case of profile 7 or 37 in the case of profile 8 (literally 73 or 37 underscores)

I have done it Film title followed by 73 underscores.
Still, after MKV_Patcher only get Hdr as mediainfo confirms. This is mkv_patcher. Is there any error?

Yep, there is a problem with the patcher!
In the next few days I will ask you to send me a sample using a hex editor so I can correct the problem!
I'll explain what to do but not now because I'm going to sleep ...
I see "Premere un tasto per continuare" in the attached image.
Are you Italian too?

Nei prossimi giorni vediamo di risolvere!
E' strano che non funzioni ma il mio patcher non trova il titolo assegnato da MkvToolNix!
Sicuro di aver scritto il titolo nel campo "titolo file" (tab "destinazione")?
Buonanotte!
