some of the performance problems with FEL remuxes.
What kind of performance problems ? Ob my LG C7 ( not 2018 but close ) I didn't saw any.

Movies such as 1917 or Gemini Man (which is a high frame rate movie) will only play if you remux them with metadata only (mode 2 using yusesope's tool).
If you remux it as dual pid (using mp4muxer) or mode 1 with yusesope's tool (e.g. keeping the full enhancement layer). It will stutter.

Here's proof that the red artifacts on the Doctor Sleep UHD-BD rip is a different issue and have nothing to do with the BT2020 flag. But that doesn't mean the bt2020 flag does nothing to the image.

Shield Default bt2020 RGB Movies Anywhere (fullrange profile 5) VS Shield Default bt2020 UHD-BD RIP
https://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/5222

So there are actually 2 issues:

1- one that causes a red push on all the UHD-BD rip. The problem is not the file because the SL-DL is identical to the profile 7 DL on my x700 as shown here: https://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/4913

2- a 2nd red push caused by the bt2020 flag that affects all the streaming app and plex

Shield Default bt2020 RGB NETFLIX VS Shield RGB vertex NETFLIX:

you can clearly see that removing the bt2020 flag fix the red push on profile 5 full range files. In fact, it's slightly affecting all the colors. blue green red yellow

The tag is going away in the next firmware release so I'm glad we're at least solving one issue. Have you had a chance to look at that LG profile 4 BL+EL+RPU video to see if you notice any oddities when compared to another soc?

Damn, this is on my todo list but I completely forgot. I'll try that tomorrow night. thank's for reminding me.

Well....it's an improvement. :) We'll see what they turn up. Especially with their discussion with Dolby. But at least the BT.2020 flag being removed should help. I still don't understand how that works with my UB820 because it's sending the BT.2020 flag and it's definitely doing the correct colors.

Out of curiousity did anyone try reencoding the BL ( same res just lower bitrate x265 ) and then mux it with the original EL into mp4? I wonder if that would be still playble on my LG C7 internal player.

I don't suppose anyone happens to know which profile(s) work on Sony Bravia KD-65X9500G via plex OR Firestick 4K plex?
Also if its capable of playing both BL+EL+RPU or BL+RPU?
TV doesn't have a dolby vision icon haha.

Non-MEL EL contains residue - i.e. result=some_RPU_magic_function(BL+EL) . By changing BL (and re-encoding is a destructive process) you are bound to get an incorrect result.

Nop, I cannot get a match with that LG profile 4 BL+EL+RPU video or any video that has an EL.
Shield Plex RGB vertex VS LG C8 internal app

So I thought maybe the problem was caused by the DV files that are HDR10 and DV compatible(limited range). So I compared the Glass Blowing BL+ RPU demos. One is HDR10 and DV compatible(limited range) and the other video is full range profile 5 DV only.
looks pretty much the same to me.. I still see a slight difference compared to the C8(but not in real life) but nothing major like any BL+EL+RPU.

*notes: the glass blowing samples don't work in my x700 so that's why I used the c8 for the comparisons. Downside: almost impossible to pause at the same frame.

Ah that's disappointing. I went ahead and demuxed that demo file with yusecope's demuxer and it does look like it's FEL (~200MB BL:~50MB EL), so that could explain why it's not playing it correctly.

I wonder if a dvhe.08.09, BL+RPU, HDR10 compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible UHD-BD rip would output proper colors. Can we create such a file with the tools we have?

I know the EL is gone but if it is color accurate, that could be a good workaround until Nvidia finds what the problem is.

Yep with yusecope's tool in mode 2 to strip out the EL and an unaltered nightly version of tsmuxer will give you a profile 8 video. I can try that with the doctor sleep scene actually. I'll post the clip shortly for you to try as well.

Here you go:

From first glance, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between this and the profile 4 BL+EL+RPU video. But maybe there will be with the vertex workaround?
