Yes it’s the only container at the moment that can do dv + atmos. MP4 does not support atmos audio
Figured as much and started testing. I'm using Plex on Shield as that's supposed to work. Latest Tsmuxer nightly on Win10 (w64-nightly-2020-06-27--02-14-32). Image stays black on playback. Seems to all be there, just won't play. Does anyone see aynthing that's obviously wrong?
Could be an issue with the nightly. Try the exact same steps but with this version here:

That worked. At least initially, now I can't get it to recognize the DV anymore in Plex, but it worked. The inconsistency may be due to the unusual setup with the Vertex2 emulating a compatible EDID. I'll look there first and see if I can fix it. Thanks a lot for the help Shawn.

I hope an mkv-based solution and playback in Kodi are in the near future.

EDIT: playback in DV works reliably on the AT4K. Issue's on the Shield or with Plex. Working on it.

you can also try profile 8 with nightly release tsMuxer from 16-th March 2020.

I read it works on Shield (with lossless), and works on LG WebOS (without lossless)

Just in time for the testing tonight. Thank you very much! The 04.06 fix version appears to work, the Shield TV always picks up DV given the right player (MrMC is reliable). I'm still struggling with my projector not triggering its HDR mode, but that isn't due to the file I believe. But who knows, I'll report back if this works, and how well it does if it does. Have a bunch of re-ripped mkvs from my backups (thank you foresight) ready for remuxing.

I'm guessing you've been following the steps from here?

https://www.avforums.com/threads/dolby- ... s.2254350/

If so, it's probably not the file that's the issue. Nevermind that profile 8 is wrong for these kind of files, it's not going to matter much on the Shield. It's surprising though that you've been having issues with Plex. Have you been turning off PGS subtitles? If you're worried about your remux process, give these sample files a try:

https://mega.nz/file/YSxhkSLK#fkfy54tYV ... xIOBZLyGR4 (MEL)

https://mega.nz/file/MHpBBLjK#4bM5jsNgP ... glhYbzLcQ0 (FEL)

Thank you Shawn. I hadn't seen that thread on avforums. A helpful HDfury rep on AVSforum spotted my problem like a hawk and solved it. The thread you linked to would have solved it as well. You need to force an HDR frame in another tab to make it work. Somehow overlooked that in the instructions I followed. Thanks again for following up on this, that's very gracious of you.

EDIT: by the way, you were also right about Plex. MrMC started crashing, and with this latest fix, Plex is working swimmingly. Cheers for that, too.

Is it possible to re encode the BL.hevc and use that along with the EL.hevc to make a smaller sized Dolby Vision capable file?

I only saw this question now. As you probably read further down, MrMC crashes after a while. Didn't realize this while testing short clips. They're .ts in my case, not .mp4, but I'm sure it comes to the same thing. MrMC does pick up on the DV more reliably than Plex, though, so I'm sad that is ultimately crashes. Last night, Plex wasn't sending LLDV at all with any of the files that worked previously.

Is it possible to convert FEL -> MEL or use only RPU ?
FEL is to much data.

so far not possible to convert FEL to MEL, but you can use yusecope's tool in mode 2, I think, it creates BL+RPU

I have recode/shrink my BL. It is now 10 GB.
EL (FEL) is 11 GB.

I have use yoseptools in Mode 2. Result: Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.05.06, BL+RPU / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible.

But final size is 21 GB.

I have a few MP4 DV files that play blank screen with audio on my TCL Roku R613. From reading this thread I believe it's because they need to be profile 4/5. Is there an easy way to convert those MP4 files to profile 4/5 or would I have to start from scratch?
