Having issues opening this disk. Has anyone successfully been able to back it up on UHD?

Yes, people have backed this one up already.

Forum members would need more information from you to be able to better advise. Simply saying “it does not work” does not give the forum much to go on. Help us help you.

Are you receiving any specific error(s)?

Any error logs available? If so, can you please post them?

Any additional relevant information related to the problem you are seeing on your end may be useful for advise.

If it’s a missing key then posting the .tgz files in the forums does no one any good. These .tgz files differ from error log files in certain ways. This is because only Mike (owner/developer of MakeMKV) can do something with these files in order to add support for the discs.

I see you’ve previously submitted dumps correctly based on your post history. Do the same with these. The process has not changed.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was a key issue or disk issue, as the error just says "failed to open disk" (technically it says the volume key is unknown, so i'm guessing emailing the address is the right thing to do).

for the record, MI Ghost Protocol worked fine, but I just moved on to Rogue Nation and that also did not decrypt

I did all MI movies last week, the only one that gave me an issue was Fallout and I have two copies of that and both were unreadable. I managed to rip one of them by downgrading to 1.15.1.

As of this morning MI 2 and 3 are ripping while they weren't before, but I am still getting "unable to open disk" on MI: Rogue Nation

Hey did you submit the dump file for Rogue Nation?
I won't do it if it's already been sent...

That’s not how this process works. AACS LA and studios can implement dozens and if they ever wish to hundreds of different encryption keys for any one particular release. There is hardly ever one single key for one single movie release. It wouldn’t be much of a protection process if it was that simple.

So, in short, the key for his disc may not necessarily be the same for yours. So you should always be submitting your dumps for your discs regardless without waiting for someone else to do it for you. Otherwise, you could be sitting there forever waiting for support for your discs.

I'm having this same issue. Received my 6 disc collection of all of the MI's and Rogue Nation won't decrypt. Submitted my dump file this morning.

Yeah I can't rip that one either. I can't downgrade because I want to preserve the DV information.

You can downgrade rip the movie then run the mkv through 1.15.3 and you still preserve the DV info.

No luck with 1.15.1 either. Same errors. I ordered a second drive. I'll try with that when I receive it. I'll also see if I can get my hand on a second disc.

I finally managed to rip Fallout. The combination of cleaning, OSX, LG drive (mk1.0.5) and MakeMKV 1.15.1 worked! It took a very long time to rip. I made a back up copy and ran it through MakeMKV 1.15.3 to get the DV information back. Success!
