I had a feeling it would come back like I said just return it to the store if it's new. forget warranty they will just give you a refurbished drive get a better drive like the BU40N
I haven't looked yet but is preparing the BU40N a straightforward process?
I've found the pinned posts here, I'll see how I get on with them as somebody who's never done this before. It seems like there's lots of whys and wherefores involved and there is plenty to be aware of :?
Same as flashing the asus you have just with different firmware.

I actually bought my drive already flashed so I have no firsthand experience with this process. It irks me a little bit as it cost around £70 but I appreciate that things like this can be like trying to hit a moving target as standards and methods get tweaked by studios etc and we have to keep up with software and hardware. Buying this recommended drive and the enclosure will cost around £110, then I have the 'experience' of getting it flashed correctly AND then it seems there's no real guarantee that this drive will remain functional indefinitely (correct me if I'm wrong).

I looked at the pinned post with instructions but didn't have time to properly digest it's content so I'll get back to this.
