Latest Alfred Hitchcock UHD Classics Collection

Post by by96$ »

For anyone who is getting the newest Hitchcock UHD set (with Rope, Frenzy, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Torn Curtain, and Topaz), I e-mailed the five dump zip files last night.

MKB20_v77_Torn_Curtain_D72C.tgz
MKB20_v77_The_Man_Who_Knew_Too_Much_923C.tgz
MKB20_v77_Topaz_B45C.tgz
MKB20_v77_Rope_B166.tgz
MKB20_v77_Frenzy_5FA8.tgz

Out of curiosity, how long is a reasonable amount of time to wait before resubmitting the dump files? I know it can take a few days, but not sure if there comes a point where it is best just to resubmit in case the e-mails did not get received.

It doesn't hurt to resubmit, but I'd say give it a week.

I imagine the onslaught of keys showing up in email can be pretty intense for Mike. I have no idea how long they take to process or how many can be done in parallel. Then even after they're processed, they seem to get released in batches.

Thanks! I may resubmit in the next day or two. Don’t want to be nagging but also want to make sure the files were received.

Offtopic-Question:
Is it even worth to buy such old movies as UHD? On movies prior the year 2000 I so far only seen the trend, where an old grainy source was just upsampled without any remastering.

May be no need to resubmit yours as I just submitted mine just now and they're all the same except my version of Torn Curtain was different so you may want to resubmit that one if it doesn't pop up here in the next few days.

It really depends. I don't have any first hand experience with these particular movies, but a UHD release is often a reason for a studio to go back to the source and do a proper, modern transfer for an old movie. 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) is probably the best poster child for this.

I posted mine almost a week ago and they are still not working. Looks like we have some in common and some are different.

Torn Curtain and Rope are now working. Will try the other three when these two finish.
