New NS60 drive came today. I literally just put it in the vantec case about 10 minutes ago. MFG'd in May 2020 and it came with 1.02 on it. SuuuuWEEET! Ran the following awesome commands:
makemkvcon64 f -d \Device\CdRom0 rawflash -i .\HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin
And then....
makemkvcon64 f -d \Device\CdRom0 rawflash de -i .\flash_HL-DT-ST_BD-RE_WH16NS60_1.00.bin
And now.....
HL-DT-ST BD-REWH16NS60 1.00
BAM!

You don't need any firmware you already have one that will work

As Billycar11 said, 3.01 is already UHD compatible.

Hello Everyone,
First time poster here. I've been using MakeMKV for about 9 months now, and have had amazing success with it while building my Plex server. A few months ago I upgraded my server PC, and thought that it would also be good to add some UHD media to it as well. I have the ASUS BW-16D1HT, and back in May I was able to rip about 10-12 4K discs after following the instructions on this thread (Dark Knight Trilogy, Braveheart, Inception, Interstellar, Saving Private Ryan, etc.).
Recently though, I have been having an issue that I cannot seem to find a solution for. On Thursday I purchased the Forrest Gump 25th Anniversary edition in 4K, and no matter what I try, the disc is not recognized by my drive. I originally flashed to the 3.02 firmware back in May, that's how I was able to get the other 4K discs to rip, and have tried the 3.10-MK FW, 3.03-MK, as well as WH16NS60 1.02 and 1.03 after reading through some of the later posts on this thread. All of these gave me zero luck with Forrest Gump. I am currently on MakeMKV v1.15.2(x64-release), and the drive is only a few months old.
If someone has posted this problem in an earlier post, and a solution has been found, I apologize for the repeat post. I have not gone through all 44 pages of this thread just yet. I also found another thread talking about an issue with the Forrest Gump 4K 25th Anniversary edition, and a dump was submitted, but updating to the latest version of MakeMKV didn't solve my issue, so I wanted to see if anyone else had any luck in other ways.
Any help in this matter is highly appreciated. Forrest Gump is one of my favorite movies, and I must have it in 4K! Especially since I just worked through the issues I was having with 4K playback (That's a whole other story).

Thanks for the advice. I cleaned the disk with no success. Other UHD Discs still work, so I have purchased a second copy. It will be here Thursday, and hopefully I will have better luck with that.

that disc is a BD100
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Forrest- ... ay/238592/ just because other UHD discs work does not mean BD 100s will most UHDs are BD 66

Triple layer discs can be a pain. I've got 3 drives, 2 ns60 and one Asus, all flashed with ns60 1.00 firmware and reripping all my Dolby vision titles over the weekend was challenging. Yes with 3 drives.

That's good info to know for the future. The UHD movie I tested, to see if the drive was still reading UHD at all, was Inception, which, according to the website you linked in your post, is also BD100.
