These companies just have to make everything complicated when anyone who is doing copies for what they deem to be bad reasons will figure out how to anyway. Sigh.

ok:
1. For the NS60 I am confused whether or not simply WATCHING UHD discs can be done on it or not. Are you saying even WATCHING one won't work in the state the drive is received from stores in? If so, that is stupid that it says UHD on it.

2. Is there any reason to believe Pioneer drives are better than the lg/asus ones, unrelated to UHD? Reliability on BR discs or quietness, for instance?

3. Is this all just about official UHD discs? In other words creating discs with home 4k videos and whatnot isn't a problem?

I am leaning towards buying the asus drive, but it's apparently a rebranded lg and I don't typically like lg (already have an external). Only other choice, though, is pioneer and I think that is a "half height" one, which would be odd.
1. You can watch disks if you meet the powerdvd UHD requirements and you can do it unofficially without ripping with makemkv and others just a bit of setup

2.no go LG to have a backup plan

3.yes this is about official disks only your own 4k videos could work but that depends on so many things camera codec player support how you burn the disc ect...

Again don't go pioneer if you want UHD I would recommend a WH14NS40 with ns60 1.00 I'm going to be having a sale on them soon they are flashed and tested look here and email me viewtopic.php?f=20&t=17831
