Anyone know what the situation is with the BW-16D1HT-PRO model?

Appears that the BW-16D1HT model has been replaced here with BW-16D1HT-PRO model. Not sure what the difference is?

Is this a UHD friendly drive and if so what firmware should it be running to be UHD friendly?

Cheers..

Hi guys, I tried using Teddy's instructions, am having a bit of an issue.......I brought up the WinPE desktop, went to My Computer, saw my hard drives and my BD rom drives.......some of the drive letters were off, but I saw a drive marked X: for the USB drive......It was marked Boot......I opened it and did not see the other files I put into the root of the drive, just Windows files......Any ideas here? Anyway, I tried to go to the drive that would be the C: drive in normal Windows, went to the Download folder, found the DOSFLASH file BH16NS40.exe, ran it, a dialog box popped up with the choices: run from present location, or extract to temp. folder......I ran it from the temp folder, DOSFLASH window appeared and filled in specs of the drive whose firmware I wanted to dump.......I hit Read Flash and another window appeared, I don't know where a dump was written.....The window that appeared had a bunch of folders in it, but no dump......

Hopefully someone can shed some light on this,

Thanks.......

Where is the clean 1.02 firmware from a WH16NS40?

And the clean 3.00 firmware from a BW-16D1HT?

Why is the only clean firmware that I can mix with my dump one single version of 3.02 ASUS?

Why are these files stored on websites full of viruses? Anyone heard of google drive? Or drop box?

Would someone please do me a favor and post actual .bin files that will work? If it's a matter of not having clean dumps off original units I can help with that.

Sloppy as fuck, it's my worst nightmare an LG WH16NS40 that shows up in makemkv as an ASUS with 3.02 on it.

Sorry, Alex. I tried to post an image, but even zipped... "The file is too big, maximum allowed size is 256 KiB." Try a script blocker when accessing zippyshare... this download is clean.

I wanted to keep this thread fresh.
I purchased ASUS BW-16D1HT. MFG date May 2018 and firmware was 3.0.2 from Amazon retail box for $89(price moves almost daily).
I followed TeddyRaspin's instructions and drive is now friendly. The detailed instructions are fantastic.
Be aware, you do need to have good MoBo BIOS knowledge of settings which are listed in the instructions.

Thanks TeddyRaspin!

Ok, thanks for that......I used the Win PE link that Teddy provided.......I hope, as Mike said in a prior post, that an easier way to do this is coming......I do have a UHD-friendly drive already in my system, but added another Asus of the same model, but the firmware is 3.03.......

Email me dude. alexcoluzzi32@gmail.com

I’ll find the one i'm using that’s working perfect

I’ve been flashing various revs of firmware into the few ASUS and LG drives I do have and comparing behavior of both flashed and not flashed.

So far so good.

So what is the consensus on preferred firmware for the ASUS? 3.02 unpatched?

I get the 8x read with 3.00 But if the newer version is the way to go I’ll run that.

Thanks for the help rock stars!!
