Bluray Drive Recommendation

Post by greggw2gs »

Hi everyone. New here and after reading a lot about UHD drives etc. I wanted to ask for a recommendation for an External USB Bluray Drive for my IMAC. I am not needing to RIP any UHD DVDs as I do not own any. But I have a large selection of Bluray and Regular DVDs that I want to get ripped. Could someone please help me get the right drive for this purpose please? Thanks for the help! Gregg

LG BP50NB40, if you can find one, is a good non-UHD drive. Works well with MakeMKV on a variety of machines. It has apparently been discontinued by LG

LiteOn EB1 seems nice; I just got one yesterday. It claims to be UHD compatible... which means it is NOT UHD friendly. Unknown at this time if that can be changed. Rips DVDs and BDs just fine.

Woodstock thank you. Bought an LG BP50NB40 certified refurbished from LG. Gregg

Not discontinued. Still available. I have 15 of them in my closet for instance.
