Is it one of the recommend adapters not all powered adapters support optical drives

And what's the build date on the drive case
Build date is 8/28/2023.

I've updated post w/link and drive profile
It's probably the adapters did it work before you flashed it?
Get one of the recommend ones if not first post has some
I didn't get a chance to try it w/a bluray before flashing.

I just retrieved an Asus BC-12D2HT with firmware 3.00, manufactured early 2016. It looks like it's UHD friendly out of the box... are there any good reasons to flash it to a newer firmware such as 3.11_MK, or should I stay with 3.00 ?

Hi. There appear to be very few Vantec NST-510S3-BK left in the wild. I've not seen mention of a replacement. Would anyone have recommendations for a 9.5mm case (for a BU40N) from the usual places (Amazon, eBay, etc.)? Aware of preferred sellers on here. Thanks.

Hi all new to this. I have a July 2012 WH14NS40 Rom ver 1.00. I also ordered a new WH14NS40 off of amazon as this drive is listed as being too old for the tool. I just wanted to confirm that this drive is not compatible with 4k blurays at all. I did try one bluray in it and it failed to read and mount in windows and did not appear in makemkv.

Guess I should have came and looked at the MakeMKV forums first but I figured the manufacturer should know what they're doing. So have the LG model WH16NS40 ROM ver 1.04 svc code: NS50 Manufacture date 3/2020. I attempted to update the firmware to 1.05 using the official LG update tool and of course it froze like halfway thru installation. Upon reboot now my drive appears to be in BOOT mode according to MakeMKV. Eject button doesn't respond now. Any suggestions on how to get it back out of BOOT mode?

thanks!

So new to all this and head is spinning.

So I have a LG WH16NS40 v1.03 mfg 3/6/2018 and trying to figure out if I can just flash it or if it needs to be flashed to something else first... From what I read it appears I need to go to 1.2 first then re flash it?? Feel like I am on a episode of the Californians! LOL

Appreciate any help!

WH16NS40 on any Firmware directly to > WH16NS60 1.02MK

filename = HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936.bin

WH16NS60 1.02MK is a patched version which, among other things, resolves the "sleep bug".

If running Windows, use the SDFtool Flasher... download & follow instructions in 1st post of that topic.

Thanks. Spacer? Page has 4 models referred - I see it mention 520S3 for 12.7mm and 510S3 for 9.5mm. Should point out I'm not in the US of A.

Hi,

I'm from Montreal, Canada.

I think my LG WH16NS60 is defect so I need to purchase another. Still, it isn't available anymore for repurchase on Amazon.

After reading the OP, Pioneer are the top UHD drives to get. BUT it is note : The recommended drives are Pioneer's they are much better than Asus and LG but sadly they cant be flashed currently you will have to buy ones with old firmware from sellers for now.

The thing is that all local stores don't have any of the suggested drives in stock. Best Buy, Bureau En gros (Stapples), La source, Wallmart, etc. So I must buy online like Amazon.ca, CanadaComputers.ca, Newegg.ca, etc. Even then, a very few models are still available.

Brief, I'm extremely limited. Only one I can purchase on Amazon is Pioneer BDR-S13UBK and cost more than 300$ with taxes while my LG cost me 100$ in 2022! Furthermore, I have no idea what is the firmware version until I'll have the drive in my hands. It is super expensive and I must say, I don't know what to do :|
