For further clarification:

Specs from MakeMKV:

Revision: BW42
Firmware date: 2117-11-29 16:55
Bus encryption flags: 1F

LibreDrive Information
Status: Possible, not yet enabled
Drive platform: MT1959

Specs from Mac system report:

BDRE BU40N :

Product ID: 0x3940
Vendor ID: 0x13fd (Initio Corporation)
Version: 3.10
Serial Number: 38343543533032333238392020202020

I seem to be the only person with a BW42 revision drive here. (I have seen others post about BW41.) I have not tested the drive with a UHD disc yet, but the drive does have the CD rip issue/bug.

So, flash with 1.03 MK or 1.04 MK? Is there an HP (not ASUS) BU40N 3.1x MK firmware?

Even though 1.03 MK is for an LG BU40N and mine is an HP BU40N with a 3.10 firmware? I am not willing to brick the drive on an experiment. And I am unable to save/extract the stock firmware as almost all utilities, instructions, and applications are for Windows/PC.

then flashing is not for you there is always a chance to brick it.
also you dont have 3.10 fw you have bw42.
all bu40ns should be intercompatible i would flash it but if you dont want to you can always buy a preflashed and tested drive

definitely do not flash asus 3.10mk you will be unable to go back to bu40n fw without the new dos flash windows flashers won't work, i have done it to prove amscom WRONG before 1.03mk was out and well he is WRONG but see if i release this info publicly people will misread/understand it again and ruin their dive.
if anyone softbricks there drive this way pm me if and only if your pc supports dosflash i'll help you
I have never Flashed 3.10mk to 1.03mk in my life.

I confirm you can flash. Hitachi LG-BU40N 1.03 to 1. 03mk no problem command line or LG Patched Flasher.

yes this was refenced from when there was no mk 1.03 bu40n and you could downgrade it with asus firmware but you needed dosflash to recover it

Hi Billy,

Must be cross wires. I would never flash a desktop drive with Slim and Vice Versa even when drunk LOL.

I hope you and your family are well and have a good Christmas.
