Question : Why do manufacturers put other brands in external enclosers?

Case in point. ASUS BW-16D1H-U PRO. Inside a Pioneer Drive that can't be made UHD Friendly. Don't get it.

To fill holes in their retail line-up.

It isn't limited to what's put in the enclosures - the basic control hardware is the same for several different brands/models, which is why you can cross-flash them.
