the makemkv keeps failing....any ideas?
i searched through and found one thread but couldnt understand what they were talking about.

Quick reminder that discussions regarding discs usually go in their respective format subforums. You posted in the UHD Drives forum.
In regards to the problem you are experiencing, you have to help us help you a bit here. Being vague and simply saying it does not work in your posts doesn’t help anyone. Forum members are not mind readers. Details are important when asking for support/help in any online forum.
So, is this a DVD disc, BD disc, or UHD BD disc?
MakeMKV should be displaying the errors and creates an error log as well. What are the errors being returned/displayed? Can you post the error log information so that someone can review and better advise?
