Asus BW-16D1HT LibreDrive Firmware

Post by Karlos421 »

Hi Guys,

This is the info from my drive that reads UHD disks fine. The only issue is the read speed could be faster, reading the line 'Unrestricted read speed: Possible, not yet enabled' am I to assume if I patch my drive with the MK firmware it would remove this and increase ripping speeds ?

Yes,

read this.

I had to move the older .bin files to a \backup directory and only after that Libredrive would work. To \backup just to make sure I can move those files back in case of any issues.

I'm not sure. But it's possible that yo need to flash a MK firmware in order for it to work. Just try as outlined above. If it works all is good. If not maybe you have to flash 3.03 or higher MK firmware.

Read that thread thoroughly/carefully.... less than desirable outcomes are possible.

Brilliant, worked flawlessly.

Only done a few DVD rips today but now 13.7 x speed up from about 4.5 before.

One thing maybe someone can explain is why do some discs still work faster than others ? shouldn't they all read the same.

I can't really see peoples issues with faster speeds, if you write a DVD or read a DVD data disk its like 16x so whats the difference.

Discussed in the Libredrive version v6 thread.

So after plenty of successful rips my drives stop reading discs within Makemkv, can play a dvd in windows no problem but it just sits there in Makemkv doing nothing. I have two of these both do the same thing, my older Pioneer still works but not these. Pop the disc in, it spins up, identifies then when you press the large icon to start analysing the disc you can just about hear it spinning.

If I hit the stop icon it eventually stops and then displays at the bottom this;

MakeMKV v1.15.1 win(x64-release) started
Error 'Scsi error - ILLEGAL REQUEST:READ OF SCRAMBLED SECTOR WITHOUT AUTHENTICATION' occurred while reading 'BD-RE ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.01' at offset '1048576'
Using direct disc access mode
Error 'Internal error - Operation was cancelled (122)' occurred while reading 'BD-RE ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.01' at offset '524288'
Error 'Internal error - Operation was cancelled (122)' occurred while reading 'BD-RE ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.01' at offset '1048576'
Error 'Internal error - Operation was cancelled (122)' occurred while reading 'BD-RE ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.01' at offset '32768'
File system not recognized, disc can't be opened
Failed to open disc

I wonder if its the V6 Libredrive having a few bugs, but I can't seem to uninstall it, any ideas ?

It looks like libredrive is not kicking in had something similar happen. Delete private data.tar you will get old libre drive back

I have been try to revert back to the previous version of LibreDrive with no success, so far this is what I have done.

Uninstalled completely, removed the data directory and contents, rebooted, then installed. This seems to reinstall back to v6 which seems strange, I’m assuming that because before I installed the bin file, it use to say the speed function was not yet enabled, now it states yes, so how do I reinstall it back to the previous version ?

There must be registry entires that are not removed as after a reinstall the program is still registered without me reentering my serial number, does this also tell the app to patch LibreDrive back to v6? Other posts state you just delete private data tar, but after a reinstall when it down loads a new copy, if you look inside the tar file it has the bin as version 6.

So to recap, after a few days a drive that was not connected and a drive that was connected no longer work with Makemkv with DVDs or BluRays, yet my old Pioneer 207m still works fine.

I just deleted it again, booted Makemkv, it redownloaded the private_data.tar file. If you open that file you have the sdf_00000072.bin inside, is that not v6 ?

Ok, so I found a fix. When you uninstall it doesn't remove the cd service and there are loads of registry entries still present. After a manual removal of all those entries and the service when I installed this time, it was like a new pc install, as if I was still on a trial. After adding my serial number and my preferences etc its working again.

Please can I ask the devs why when you don't uninstall it doesn't do this cleanly ?
